We are Storytellers Word Art

Spring Fling from Elemental Scraps

Fonts are Lesli Thick Not Fat and Passions Conflict

Angie arranged the papers, elements, and photos. Amy decided and arranged on the positioning of the fonts. We worked together on-line through IMing! Isn’t technology great?! Love the file share application in Yahoo!!

Amy - My family’s stories are told through the digital scrapbook pages I create so they’ll remember those events captured in the layouts when there’s no one around to tell that story. I take my camera with me most everywhere; you never know when a photo opportunity will occur. I choose to document everything: special, happy celebrations to the regular everyday routines we tend to let slip away from our memories. The creation of the actual layout depends on the quality of the photo, finding the perfect complimentary digi kit, and then choosing words or journaling to tell the story. Sometimes the layout is complete with a quote or bit of poetry, sometime more journaling is required. I try to include dates on my pages so at least people will be able to identify when the event occurred. I can imagine a group of family members gathering around the layout to discuss the whos and the whats of the event, debating, remembering the past, and stopping to think about how every event in those scrapbook pages has had an influence on their existence today! For me, digital scrapbooking is more than a form of art, it’s a crucial part of linking the past, present, and future of our family.

Angie - When my first child was born, I dove into paper scrapping like there was no tomorrow. I wanted all of his precious moments to be recorded forever and it seems like I was snapping photos around the clock. As time went by, my stash of supplies and lack of time to work got the best of me. Soon, my pile of untouched materials began making me feel guilty and, at times, even made me feel like a bad mother. So, I got rid of it all. I gave it to friends, family, and even to charity. My photos, at best, made it into cheap photo books from the drugstore and, at worst, never made it out of the paper envelopes.

When I found digital scrapbooking, I was more than elated! I could once again work on the things that are important to me...recording family memories...but without all the guilt of a supply stash staring me down. All I need is my laptop and I can work anywhere, anytime. No setup, no clean-up, no frustration. I'm working on my first album now...a baby book for my youngest son...and can't wait to hold the finished product in my hands.
