March 09
I like my Jan/Feb wallpaper better than this one, but I wanted to do something a little different and I wanted to use these photos I took last March to show that even though winter is dragging on, spring will come eventually. It's a rather depressing time of year up here because we have a good month of winter left and everyone is SO ready for spring, so I wanted to show the hope of spring and the beauty in the change of the seasons.
To get the fancy edge on the green paper I wanted the shape of one of the ribbons from the new Jake & Emma collection. So I duplicated the paper and put one later under the ribbon and one on top. Then I clipped (using control + G) the top paper to the ribbon. Then I selected the bottom paper and erased the portion that was under where the holes of the ribbon are so that through those holes you can see the purple patternologie paper.
I could have merged the layers at that point and then the paper would have simply looked like it was cut when the drop shadow was added, but I liked the look of it this way so I applied the drop shadow and didn't bother merging the layers. This way it looks like there's a raised section at the edge of the green paper.
