my first layout

I chose to start with a recipe card because is was small, I needed no picture, and yet I could practice a lot of the skills from Ro's great movie tutorials. And, it was a way for me to share this recipe with my Tuesday quilting group. We had it for lunch last week and it was delish. :gathering:

Thanks to all the great gals here who responded to my questions. I don't think I used the template correctly yet but it was a good layout guide and I'll keep working with templates. I think they could be a great tool once I figure them out.

You did a great job on your first layout! I love recipes, as you can see if you go to my gallery. I love the colors and layers you built into your card. The embellishments are so cute too. I'd love a copy of your full res recipe if you'd send it to me. Rosemary.Siewert@gmail.com. I'd be happy to send you some of my favs. too.

There is a recipe challenge every month and should be showing up soon, just keep an eye out in the newsletter for it. It's loads of fun, there is a theme and you have some to finish it, and upload it to the recipe swap and crop challenge gallery, and at the end they email you the full res. jpgs so you can print them all off.

At the risk of sounding silly, when I send you the full res version, is that the one save directly from my PSE doc as a jpeg? I'd be happy to share with you and would love getting copies of your favs. Your recipe card for the February Swap struck a chord with me when I was browing the challenge gallery late last night. I think I put it in my idea file for future reference. I loved all the color and the stitching on the flower applique.

Great first LO! I love doing recipe cards as well. And I do a lot of pages in 4x6 that are non-recipes. They can be less intimidating and quicker to do as there is less space to play with. Also easy to print and great in those cheap 4x6 albums you can get everywhere.

Keep playing and good luck!

If there is one thing I'm guilty of it is the sin of collecting recipes. And now, they can be beautiful!I love the idea of sharing them on this site and will be participating in the challenge this month. I collected several 4x6 layout templates yesterday taking advantage of the great sale going on right now. I made a decision on the recipe and I think I'm ready to start working on the layout. What fun I'm having.
