The Whitehead Girls circa 1960

This is my Mum, her 2 sisters and my Grandma. The picture was taken roundabout the time that I was born, I believe my Mum might even have been expecting me when this was taken.

Left to right, my Mum Therese Riley, Auntie Joan Moran (it would have been her birthday 8th April - this ones for you Auntie Joan, I miss you so much), my Grandma Ellen Whitehead and my Auntie Winnie Crumpton.

I spent 2 days on and off hand colouring this photo. I know the colours of the coats are correct but the blouses, bags gloves and shoes are a bit of a guess - even the hair as my Mum changed hers frequently and I know Joan was no stranger to the dye botle in her youth. Winnies flaming auburn was the real deal.

All the supplies are from Syndee Nuckles Noteworthy collection - I knew as soon as I saw it that it was perfect for this picture

I used:

framed treasures mini butterfly embellishment

cream tab embellishment

journal papers embellishment

flourish embelishment

sheer ribbon embellishment

leaf paper and ledger paper

This is just unbelievably stunning! I actually caught my breath when I saw it! I know, that sounds corny, but I'm telling the truth. This is truly beautiful. Your hand coloring is gorgeous and the embossed look of the swirls a subtle yet so effective. Love, love, love it! Going to my faves!

What a lovely layout! It's gorgeous. I love the hand painting you did in this. I want to learn this too. So many things I need to learn. Anyways, your layout is simply stunning. I love the colors, the swirls, but most of all the commeraderie of the women in the photo. What a wonderful family memory.

Rosemary, the colouring is time consuming but not inherntly difficult. I use PSE 5 and could easilly talk you through how I do it if you want to PM me. It can't be so different in other programmes.

Incidentally, talking about linking arms, in Manchester we would say 'put your leg in bed' when asking to link arms!

Well, drat! I was hoping you had a quick-to-do secret to share as to how to color the picture like that. Amazing work!
