Great Grandmother

I wan't sure which gallery to post this LO to and since most of the products I used are from this month's club collection I finally decided to post it here. One reason I started digital scrapbooking was to create heritage LOs that I could share with family members. I've done a few LOs that I consider to be "heritage" but this is may be my first official heritage LO. I've been working on it all week. It is definitly one that changed alot from the original I started with. I think I wanted it to be perfect since it is the ONLY photo I have ever seen of my Great Grandmother. It is so special to me and I even found myself crying several times while working on it.

The journaling reads:

"Christina Elizabeth Nelson is my Great Grandmother. She died at the young age of 26 after giving birth to my maternal Grandmother, her only child. My Grandmother never knew her mother and I wonder how different her life would have been if her mother had lived. Her father married again and had 2 additional daughters. My Grandmother was raised by a stepmother and she lived a real Cinderella story. Any time she talked about her stepsisters she would tear up and I could tell how difficult it was for her to talk about.

This is the only photo of I have of my Great Grandmother. She is the in the front row on the left. I have no idea who the other young women are. I treasure this photo of her as a young woman."

Items used are listed in the details.

Beautifully done! I love the sepia with a hint of color, and the journaling on that ribbon tied notebook looks wonderful. Super pretty page!

Gorgeous! I love your muted colours and the delicate, wispy border around the photograph.

I have a similar project that I need to start and your layout is inspirational.

It is beautiful! What a story too. I hope she found peace over the whole thing at some point in her life...

Your great-grandmother is so beautiful - what a tribute this LO is! And inspiring, too! I'm also on a mission to scrap all my heritage pictures so all the family can have copies, not just me!

This is a beautiful page. All of the elements make a wonderful whole. I can't help but feel there is a strong familial resemblance with at least some of the others in the pholo.

what a beautiful way to honor the memory of your great grandmother. Your LO is wonderful at establishing the heritage "mood" of this piece. Truly a treasure to add to your collection of LOs. TFS

This is so soft and beautiful! I really like the frame around the photo in the same color as the background paper.
