Alpacas

They were just too darn cute not to stop and take their pictures! I combined 4 different photos and several pieces of one to "make" this final snap shot.

Journaling reads:

One of the best parts about driving the back roads to our Statler Retreat at Jan's house in Sisters Oregon is going past the Alpaca Ranch. Every year I promise myself, "This is the year I'm going to finish a quilt using Alpaca batting." Hasn't happened yet. Maybe this will be the year!

What a great LO, Kay! I love your use of the bits of mesh and incorporating the flower clusters here and there. Alpacas are cute and I LOVE knitting with their wool!! Would love to own a few myself …. Maybe some day I can talk DH into it … I keep telling him they don’t spit as much as Llamas but he is not buying it! LOL Anyway … love this layout!

What a fantastic job you did laying out this photo. EVERYTHING is just perfect!

And what a great photo—darling animals. My neighbor was telling me the other day that I should get some for my farm. Someone close by has a few and I was astounded at how much he earned from their wool!!!!! I guess I shouldn’t me, since I crochet and see the prices for alpaca yarn . . .

Wonderful LO! I love the bg and the photo combo! The flowers look wonderful! Great journaling too!

We don't have any Alpaca here that I know of, but we do have llama, buffalo, goats, sheep, cattle, elk and emu, to mention some. roflol Is their wool soft? What's the weight like, compared to sheep? I know you'll have a great time with your quilt project - are you going to scrap it?
