I am struggling to think of new picture ideas. This week I decided to take pictures of all our houses and grouped them with photos I already had of each family group. I got the idea when I saw a map of the river valley in a travel brochure. I scanned the map - made a background to match it and MJO Instant grunge to give the background a little texture. I then faded the map a bit into the background.

The Minnesota in the title is from VRA States US

The circles around the town from AWI Journal Highlights dotted

The butterfly embellishments from ABR Day to Day Life Special.

The journaling reads:

I have to admit the Minnesota River valley is a beautiful place to be in the fall. The hillside is already giving us hints of the beautiful gold and red splendor to come. I tend to still think of us all as living in Mankato. We moved to this area almost 40 years ago when we were first married. Dan and Christina are the only ones who live in the city proper. They along with Tom Nate and little Lily have a wonderful older home on the north side. Their neighborhood is full of children many who congregate in their back yard. Typical afternoons find the boys in the back alley riding bikes and scooters. The river separates Mankato in Blue Earth County from No Mankato in Nicollet County where Laurie and Kevin live with Jacqueline and Danielle. They built their large rambling home atop a hill. The house is almost always full of “friends” and weekends were created for sleep overs as far as the girls are concerned. The Mankato area is blessed with many parks and play areas. Both families live within blocks of a park with a swimming pool. I tend to think of Thunderbird Hills where John and I live as a sub division of Mankato but in reality it is a Kasota address and part of LeSueur County. I can count on one hand the number of times I’ve been in the sleepy town of Kasota since we moved here in 2004. I’ve gone to pick up mail after trips at the post office and to vote. I go to Mankato, where I work at the local hospital most days. Although Laurie and Dan have long since been married and have children of their own I still think of us all as “we” and feel blessed to be able to live so close to my children and grand kids.
