1971 -- shores of Lake Superior

For some reason this song, Once You Had Gold by Enya, came to mind while I was working with this old photo of my brother and me. He died 3 1/2 years ago and this just felt like something that had to come out.

Supplies:

BHA Stylize Collection Biggie

BMU SSPaper BGBlenders

SBA SSTools Actions Vintage 6502 color

fonts: Jane Austen & Pea Kate

Once you had gold,

Once you had silver,

Then came the rains

Out of the blue.

Ever and always.

Always and ever.

Time gave both darkness and dreams to

You.

Now you can see

Spring becomes autumn,

Leaves become gold

Falling from view.

Ever and always.

Always and ever.

No-one can promise a dream come true,

Time gave both darkness and dreams to

You.

What is the dark;

Shadows around you,

Why not take heart

In the new day?

Ever and always.

Always and ever.

No-one can promise a dream for you,

Time gave both darkness and dreams to

You.

This layout is a stunner! It is absolutely wonderful... I love the colors in the photo and you blended the words in very nicely- that can be very difficult to do when the color changes underneath the text.

Your LO and the tragic story behind it that you shared with us really touched my heart. I look at the two of you on the beach enjoying the moment and each other, and then read the words to the song. How perfectly you put this together, and I am so glad that it has brought your emotions to the surface to spill out from that dark place we hide things within. Maybe now you can truly start to heal, always missing him, but centering your thoughts on the things you shared and the love you felt for him.

That picture is a treasure. At the age at least, you two look so much alike—almost like twins.

Wishing you love, peace, and happiness.

This is just beautiful Bobbi. It gave me goose bumps for you looking at it and reading the lyrics. I am glad it gave you something more than a scrapbook page. Thank you for sharing it.

Gorgeous....absolutely gorgeous. What a wonderful way to memorialize your brother and a great way to remember younger, happier days. I do hope you print this out and frame it. It's worthy of hanging in a special place. (Micheal's craft store sells 12x12 album frames that are perfect for layouts.) :) You did a great job on this.

Fantastic LO Bobbi Jo. I think it's stunning artistically withe the photo treatment and the lyrics. The picture with him walk out of the photo before you is very significant to me. And I can see how that lyric would catch you. I'm so glad you were able to tap in to something through this process. May you find healing and rest in that part of your heart some time.

Bobbi Jo - this is beautiful. The photo, the action, the words and the history behind it. I'm glad to hear that this was cathartic - sometimes things are better out than in!! :bighug:
