Journaling reads:

And so you wonder, what do rusted Tonka trucks and cookies jars have to do with each other? Little boys’ hands, of course!

Little boys’ hands can make trucks move back and forth, dig holes in the sand, and build sandcastles adorned with stones and feathers found on the ground. They can leave dirty prints where we don’t want them. They can reach into the cookie jar and proclaim that “these are the “bestest” cookies in the whole wide world!” They can spill milk and take things apart to explore how they were made. They can color a picture that is proudly displayed on the refrigerator. But best of all, little boys’ hands can touch your heart. I’m sure we all have, tucked away in some special place, that little piece of construction paper with little handprints of paint and the poem:

Sometimes you get discouraged because I am so small,

And always leave my fingerprints on furniture and walls.

But everyday I am growing, I'll be grown up someday,

And all these tiny handprints will simply fade away.

So here's a final handprint just so you can recall,

Exactly how my fingers looked when I was very small.

And just like Jackie Paper, as painted wings and giant rings make way for other toys, so too my boys grew up and now their hands play the guitar and piano, write music, fly a plane, cook and carve gourmet works of art – and sometimes, when they visit, still reach in the cookie jar and proclaim “these are the “bestest” cookies in the whole wide world!” And once again, I am truly blessed!

Wow love this!! I like the angle (from up high) you took the trucks and your choice of embellishments. Rocks and feathers just the thing little boys would pick up. But of course your journaling makes the lay out. I certainly can relate. Very well done!!

This is so sweet! I love the lifted photos-nice and grungy like the dirty trucks. I have that poem on my wall from Mother's Day 2006 I think with those great little handprints!
