Courageous Sweet Marie

Courageous Sweet Marie

This is about my DH's Aunt Marie - Journaling Reads:

What a prickly package it must have been to be a woman in the 40ís and 50ís, a time when women were ruled by stereotypes and unwritten standards of how women were to behave and live. I marvel at Aunt Marie and the independent life & choices she made, often at the dismay of her family.
Marie never married, living instead with her sister Beatrice. She supported herself by working her entire career on an Air Force Base, the most masculine of environments.
These are not out of the ordinary by todayís standards but are quite out of the ordinary in the context of the 1940ís and 1950ís standards. What a brave, bold and independant woman she must have been!

Gorgeous page. She is a beauty too. I love how yo used the flowers and lace. Fantastic job with this!
Gorgeous Gorgeous Gorgeous! I love the soft color palette, the clustering of the embellis, the slight tilt to it all. Very very nice. And it's so nice to "see" you again too!
I am crazy about this page for so many reasons! I love this tribute to a strong woman, the blending, the way you did your title, the color palette... It's wonderful and a beautiful tribute to Aunt Marie!!
This is wonderful! Love the blended photo and the journaling that adds such perspective and depth to a beautiful page.
Gorgeous LO and with her beauty I am surprised she never married in such an occupation! I've been thinking about you and was glad to see a LO here of yours and it is top notch, worthy of scraplifting and putting in my favs! ;)
