Lost History
Journaling reads:
I don’t know who these women are. The photo was in my grandparents’ album among photos of relatives from Weingarten, but there is no notation about who they are. The one on the far left looks quite similar to my mother, could she be an aunt or a cousin? What of those costumes? Were they dressed for a performance? A festival? A dance? I wish I knew. I wish I had asked my grandmother who they were. But as a 10 year old girl I didn’t yet grasp the enormity of my heritage, so the questions remain unanswered. This story is lost, but I will work to preserve the ones I do know and pass them to my son, and someday to his children. For now I will call them “The Girls” and imagine that they are heading off for a girls’ night out.
