Trautwein
My grandparents on their wedding day. See below for journaling:
When Wilhelm Trautwein began courting Hilda Martin, he had few prospects. Germany was in the depths of an economic depression, and his job in a paint factory didn’t pay enough to support him, much less a wife and family. The best hope of a future lay across the Atlantic in America. Wilhelm’s plan was that he would emigrate to America to establish himself, and then he would send for Hilda. Once she arrived in America they could marry. Hilda was no fool -- she told Wilhelm he must marry her first, and then leave for America. She would follow when the year was up. He married her before leaving Weingarten. Their union lasted over 50 years.
