HH task #8 Christmas Tradition_Macy's 8th floor

This is the first year I can remember where the theme has been repeated and is the same as last years, but because of that I made this layout before going up with our family on Christmas Eve Morning as usual. Some of the past themes are Nutcracker, Cinderella, Charlie and the Chocolate factory, How the Grinch Stole Christmas, The Wizard of Oz, A Christmas Carol, and Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone. Since it began in 1963, more than 15 million people have visited the 8th floor display!

 

Journaling reads:

Christmas Eve morning is when our family celebrates a tradition we’ve had since our kids were little. After breakfast we drive (or now we have the option to take the light rail) up to Macy’s (still Dayton’s to me) and go up to their 8th floor where there is an animated display, which is new almost every year. This year the theme is: A Day in the Life of an Elf. Elves are working hard to get ready for Christmas as well as singing Christmas trees.

Oh, just love this, Rosemary! The entire layout is just magical and the photos pop! I remember going to Wanamaker's in Philly as a little girl ... big trip on the "el" (elevated train) to downtown. Sweet memory ... probably should scrap about it.

You always make such amazing layouts. . . But this one has such a MAGIC to it. . . .Awe it just so SWEET to remember these times huh??? Brings a tear to my eye. . . .no not that I ever had anything in the country like this to remember. . . .just that i can't find my BIG CHOCOLATE KISS !!!!! NOW where'd cha HIDE IT????? Okay I'm just going hang out in one of these trees until I FIND IT !!!!!!

Oh, this is just AWESOME, Rosemary! I'll always have great memories of our visit to Macy's with you. I'll be sure to show Janae. I can almost guarantee she'll say either "Cool!" or "Awesome!", too. :D

 

Btw, my DH was wondering about that giant kiss, too. I think it's a good thing they didn't have those in the gift shop. :D

Wow, love it all! The title and the ornament hanging from it, the frosty blues, the tree at the right, all the photos you fit on without cluttering...the tradition itself! Wonderful!
