a time to mourn

Mom & Dad had a hard road together, and it was maybe the hardest at the end. This is my tribute to them, to their 50 years together, and especially to him.

Journaling:

And so, after 50 years together you sit across from an empty chair. Hard to believe that she is gone. You married, raised your children, went through so much together. And at the end you gave until there was almost nothing left to give. No one could have been more faithful in caring for her daily needs as you were. No one could have been more patient. Even at her most difficult, through your own frustration and aggravation with her, you were tender and loving. I pray that as time goes on, the memory of these last difficult years fades a little and that the good memories of earlier times will be the ones that persist.

It is a bleak winter day. I pray we will all have faith in the spring that will surely follow.

Quote at bottom:

In the night of death, hope sees a star, and listening love can hear the rustle of a wing.

Robert Ingersoll

Oh, my, this is perfect in every way. Your tribute to both parents is beautiful, and you have really captured a feeling with your photo and then with your colors, simple embellishments and aged and torn papers. Just wonderful. Hope that you and your Dad are doing better each day.

This is a beautiful page. My father-in-law passed away 3 years ago and still cannot bring myself to do his album yet. I want my kids to help and they say it hurts too much still. This is an inspiration to get started. I hope you and you dad are doing well. Thanks for sharing.

Bobbi, your layout is beautiful. Both your words and color choices are so tender tender, and the poignant photo captures your father's sense of loss. I pray for you both that spring comes soon.

what a wonderful tribute. I just very recently lost my mother and this so speaks to how hard their last 2 years have been and now my dad sits across from an empty chair. Thanks so much for sharing. I hope as spring comes your paint starts to heal and you too can remember the good memories.

Bobbi Jo, what a beautiful tribute! My eyes filled with tears as I wrote it cause my Dad is 94 and I see us going downhill daily as his "lady-friend" just gets sicker and sicker and his worry greatens. I think your picture is awesome of your Dad - reminds me that I need to take some good ones of Daddy now - I love your words - I can tell they were deep from your heart. Wonderful layout - I would imagine it was hard for you to do. Hugs.

Oh Bobbi what a beautiful tribute to your parents! I love the photo of your dad--he seems to be staring at that chair you spoke of in your journaling. The true star of the LO is the journaling--it's so heartfelt and beautiful. Thanks for sharing this with us.

My condolences to you and your family.
