Journaling:

Bryan & I have been asked more than once why we'd want to risk having a baby at home. Our answer has always been that we did the research and discovered that giving birth at home is actually safer than in the hospital for women that have normal pregnancies. I had our first in a hospital & honestly the only good part of that experience was the beautiful baby girl that was handed to me when it was over. I knew we wanted more children, but before we ever left the hospital I told Bryan that there had to be a better way. Thus our journey began. A parishoner at the chapel had delivered her kids at home and swore by it, she was responsible for leading me to our first midwife. Claudette was an amazing woman. Godly, caring, & spirit-filled, she was a perfect match for us & Caeleb's birth was a magical experience. I was able to walk around, I could eat if I was hungry, I could sleep in my own bed, & I could deliver my child in a natural way without feeling like I was on someone else's schedule. Everything went so well that we chose to deliver our last two children at home as well. Delivering at home was safer (you are immune to the germs in your own environment), more comfortable, & exactly as we wanted it to be. If I had to do it all over again I would. Our last 3 babies were born in different cities so we had 3 wonderful Christian midwives & 3 very different & beautiful births. Not everyone was on board with the idea & several people tried to talk us out of it, but we did what we felt God led us to do. Looking back, had we chosen to deliver Taliah in the hospital we might not be here now. There was a malformation of the unbilical cord not found in the ultrasound. I labor slowly, & the stress of pitocin would likely have caused the cord to break... my baby girl & I would have died in minutes. We are thankful & blessed!

First, thank you so much for sharing the joys of homebirth! I never gave birth in a hospital, and never plan to; especially not after experiencing the wonder and comfort of homebirth. You are so right that it is safer than a hospital. Is that a birthing pool I see in the upper left corner?

This layout definitely brings out the beauty of being at home!

Wow , that was beautiful to read! Thank you for sharing the beautiful experience of home birth with us. That is something I never got to experience.

All mine were born in the hospital and they had weird rules. I only got my babies at certain times. If I asked for my baby to be brought to me, I'd wait hours

before I'd get to see the baby. No, my experiences weren't anything beautiful compared to yours, except, as with your first one, the baby is handed to you.

The layout is beautiful!!

Beautiful journaling and how fortunate for you and your DH you were able to have normal pregnancies and deliver safely at home. Love the layering of all the different papers and textures.

This is Beautiful Jenna! You and your husband were very very blessed!

Layna too wanted a Homebirth but she had hers in the hospital with a midwife not a doctor. The midwife actually delivered and it was a beautiful experience! No tearing, no nothing. She didn't get pitocin either...something else which is available now that works with your body much better than pitocin and cod liver oil on you and the baby as the baby is being born prevents tearing. She was able to have him within an hour of hard labor, no tearing and a happy boy and his mother :) I was the one who got to cut the umbilical cord as Mike chickened out. To me that was Beautiful!

This is quite an impressive layout with your journaling telling the magical story of your home births - I think it is wonderful that you and Bryan chose to have your babies that way - you two must be one incredible couple and you have shared the most intimate part of birth together right in your home. Beautiful layout - beautiful story - thanks for sharing this delightful and personal intimate story with us. I know Bryan was very proud of you and happy that the two of you chose a home birth.
