This is not a pretty photo; it's my Painting With Light experiment! And it's actually a composite of two separate photos taken with the same set up and settings. My "studio" was my tiny laundry room, an interior room which can be completely darkened. My props were an old black coat used as a backdrop, a vase, a couple of candles, and a tripod. For the vase, I simply lit the candle and droped it down into the vase and took the photo. For my name, I set the camera on a 2 second timer and "wrote" my name in the air with the lit candle. I tried other light sources, a small flashlight, a small lamp, but the best results were with the candles. Although if this becomes a passion, I'd like to get some various colored pen lights. Safer and no wax to clean up!
