WEDDED BLISS - I love these photos of my grandparents’ wedding, 16 June 1918 in Hugoton, Stevens, Kansas. Granddad was shorter than Grandmother. In the photo to the left, he is standing on a rail to appear taller than her. And in the photo below, my great aunt, Gertrude, who is dressed in white, is holding on to Granddad so she appears to be his bride. Whereas, Grandmother, who is to his right, looks like she has just realized what she has done and what lies ahead and she is a bit petrified! On, the stories photos tell - if you have an imagination! PUDDLE JUMPER - Summer monsoon storms in the Arizona desert can be quite intense at times. Dumping great amounts of rain on parched soil in a short space of time can cause torrential runoff in washes. Fast flowing water in a flooded wash can quickly submerge a vehicle if a driver is foolish enough to try to cross. But from the safety of your own home, a desert storm is a thrill to experience. We enjoyed several such storms when we lived in Las Sendas. HAPPY MOTHERS DAY All that I am, or hope to be, I owe to my angel mother. -Abraham Lincoln I love this quote from Abraham Lincoln and have always felt it was true in my life with my mother. If a man is the head of the family, then a mother is the heart and these children are blessed for they each have a mother with an angel’s heart. This was a special Mothers Day as it was just before Rob, Melis, and family moved to their new home in Saratoga Springs, Utah. We missed Garrett and Amy’s family who were in Orem, Utah but we were blessed to have Kellie’s family, as well as Melissa and Logan’s family. This was also the first Mothers Day without my angel mom. I know she would have loved all of the children and grandchildren and the craziness that was here. I’d like to think that she looked in on us from Heaven. A TRUE CLASSIC - HAPPY BIRTHDAY DAD - Sunday, March 22, 2009 - Everyone gathered at our home for dinner, cake and ice cream in celebration of PAPA SESSLER'S 81st Birthday!! Papa picked out his cake at Costco. It was white with strawberry filling and was decorated with a big yellow sun and pink, blue and purple flowers with little buzzing bees. The great grandkids all LOVED his cake and each asked for a special part of the cake - Hailee - pink flower, Bailey - purple flower, Alex - blue flower, Logan - yellow sun's eyes, etc. A fun time was had by all!! HAPPINESS - For these two desert dwellers, Garrett and Amy, experiencing the four seasons of Utah has been such a delight. Their favorite drive is up Provo Canyon and on through Midway and to Pine Creek past Oakley. They also love Sundance Ski Resort and the surrounding areas. It’s just a hop and a skip from their driveway in Orem so they get to explore often. My jealous longing is lessened as they share their beautiful photos with me. BIG SMILES - LIFE IS BEAUTIFUL - Hailee was so afraid that when she turned 16 that she wouldn’t have any dates. She said, "no one has asked me out." And our reply was, “You aren’t 16 yet! 2019 - THIS IS MY YEAR - December 31, 2018 - New Year’s Eve - found me a bit stranded and snowed in - in the mountain community of Show Low, AZ. I had already been there for 5 days and the water pipes to my RV were frozen and would not thaw until the sun came out for several days and the snow melted - which wouldn’t happen for 4 more days. I had enough food and drinking water for 10 days and I was rescued by my family on the 9th day. They came with snow shovels and enough kid-power to dig me out and gave my car the push it needed to get over the frozen ice and up the hill to civilization. What an adventurous way to start the new year!! With a beginning like that, this year can’t help but be a GREAT one!! Bring it on!!
