My husband is a very happy man. Last week he went to the local museum which is a small village set out, to volunteer. In conversation about all the woodwork he used to do, they have allocated him a workshop of his own to set up and use. He will make wooden items to sell in their Information centre store. With our move to a retirement village I was concerned about what Ken would do to fill in his days...

Frustratingly this virus is still hanging on causing me to still feel unwell. My Ken also became ill but he is doing better than me. The friends we had been staying with also became sick and hoped we had missed out.
-
We have moved into our little home but it is taking time to settle in because I became very sick on the weekend with a bad sinus attack. Today I have set up my computer and all is well with my internet through my smart phone which I am happy about.
-
This time next week we should be busy moving things into our new little home and hope to be sleeping there the following day.
-
The buyer of our flood damaged house pushed back the settlement date so now we have 4 more weeks until we move into our new little home instead of 3. I hope to find some time to do some challenge pages over the following days of this month.

Had fun shopping electrical items today for our new little home which we are calling "Mia Mia" which is Australian Aboriginal for "shelter hut". We bought clothes dryer, TV, frypan, iron, slow cooker, vacuum cleaner, stand mixer.
-
Tomorrow we head down to our flood damaged house to bring back the remaining items we saved. This will possibly be the last trip as we have a definite buyer for our house.
-
Phone call this afternoon from Real Estate to let us know someone wants to buy our flood damaged house for slightly more than we were expecting.

Just finished my very first digital layout since end of February and first on my new laptop. I did not find the small 15inch screen an issue for me which I am pleased about.
-
I now have my new laptop and am busy setting it all up. Sadly the EHDs my daughter saved from my flooded home does not include my newest ones that had all my current Scrap Girl products so I will need to use mostly older items.

Happy to hear you have a new laptop. I hope you've contacted Angie about your files. She will resend any SG files that are still available. I'm glad you were able to save some things from the flood, but those kinds of losses are heartbreaking. I know a lot of people say they're just things, but there are so many memories associated with them. All but the main house on my dad's property burned several years ago. When you're evacuating, you think you have all the important things, but even years later, we're finding some things were burned that we didn't realize were still in the guest house and shop.

Today we were to head to our town via the town where my new laptop is waiting for me but the trip was cancelled. the town is once again cut off with a second lot of flooding. Looking at photos on facebook the water may have reached only our backyard so all things stored in our shed that we saved should be okay, hopefully.

I have just added to my thread - "Update on my situation." I miss you all!

We are about to evacuate!

The rain is not easing. We had power out for a while last night. The water is nearly knee deep in our shed which is lower down in the yard than our house. We moved the car to higher ground early this morning. The locals are saying this will be worse than the floods they had in 1974.
-
We are having torrential rain. Our town is cut off and they expect our river to go over into the front street tonight. If the rain eases it will be no worse than the flooding in 2017 but if the rain does not ease we will possibly get water going through our yard. Our house is not on ground level as it is on stumps with about 6 steps up. If we did get water into the house there will be a lot of homes in a worse situation than us.

Yesterday delivered boxes of craft products to our local Primary/Elementary school. This month I have been very busy sorting my craft supplies to give away lots as I wanted to make room in my computer/craft room to fit a bed in when the grandchildren come to stay. The job is done and now the month is nearly over so I will wait until February to get back into doing challenge layouts.

Happy New Year to everyone here at Scrap Girls.

My son-in-law did contract covid from his friend and so far the middle granddaughter has mild symptoms.

Sadly our plans have changed. This will be the first Christmas Ken and I will spend on our own in our 29 years of marriage. Daughter and son-in-law phoned at lunch time about an hour before we planned to leave our home, to ask us not to come. They had a friend stay this week who left yesterday and that person now has definite symptoms of Covid.

Presents wrapped, bags packed, food in fridge ready to take..... in a few hours off to have two nights with daughter and family. If the weather is fine we will be at the beach Christmas morning.

Do I spy a new designer sneaking into the store ????

Happy Thanksgiving to those who are about to celebrate.

Question?.... when we type in @followed by members user name I thought that person received a notification? I noticed April did that in the winners thread and also Marilyn in the World Tour did that with my user name but I never received a notification. Anyone else not receiving them anymore?

So, I've been digging around on the back end, and found a disabled setting that may be the culprit. The setting is for "Mentions & My Content" I changed it from disabled to not enabled by default, which would mean you would need to go in and enbable it in your notification settings. These notifications will be sent whenever someone mentions you or interacts with content you have posted. This is assuming the @username is considered a "mention" in the forum software. Feel free to try it out and see if it works. Let me know what you find out. I've turned mine on to test it.
