    visit to home

My daughter came home this weekend and we snapped a few outdoor pictures. I used the Junk Trunk collection.
  2. We take Sunday morning drives around our area and came across an abandoned railroad bridge. We decided to climb to the top. Around here abandoned lines are being turned in to bike trails but it would be pretty tought to bike through all the weeds in this area. I used Brandy Murry's Junk Trunk Collection and word art from her peaceful word art.
  3. Here is one of the pictures I took last weekend. There are some beautiful colors out there right now. I used the BMU Junk Trunk Collection and ABR Autumn Treasure Word Art and LCO Brush Set Thankful Autumn

    American Ride

I can help but stop and admire an old car even if it's parked out in the pasture. Give me an old cruiser anytime. My husband and I usually go for a drive on early Sunday mornings and came across these 3 lined up in a pasture. I used the BMU Junk ?Trunk Embellishments, the BMU Brush set Junk Trunk, KSC Rough Hewn Paper and ASO SSemb Mask Clusters on this layout.
  5. I went to an enviromental education conference and we talked about getting students outside to learn but we wer were cooped up in the hotel the entire time. I left early and went to the resevior to sit and soak up nature. Think it helped more than some of the talk at the conference. This is pic of the waves rolling in to the shore. I used BMU jiffy Life is Good leaves, KSC Warmth Autumn paper and ABC Naturalist JOurnal Word Art
  6. Just a view down our country lane. I used BMU SunKissed Word Art Quote, COL ss paper Naturally Handmade Wrinkled Paisley Paper Special, CED DaveRaya Paper peach and fire, ABR JustBU WordArt Blessed, ABR JustBU paper Orange, ABL SS Embl photo Masks Prairieland. Ive been gone from Scrap Girls so long I forgot how to do some of the layouts.
  7. We got the chance to see an American Muscle Car that was covered in pictures from servicemen dating from the American Revolution to today. He is from Missouri and he shows this car around the country in honor of service men and women. His wife is in the service. There is just no way that pictures can do this car justice.

    flowers

Here's one of my flower pots I got the inspiration to do after seeing some photos of Tiza's that she used various filters on.
  9. I used Christy VanderWall's Feeling Kafty Collection of papers and Kristin's Designs template. This is how my flowers look after 3 months. It's getting hot and they are starting to leg out so I need to trim them back for a while.

    Late Again

I used the CKA Trucks and Tires collection for everything. It was just a bad nite last nite. My DH had everything planned out that he was going to get done when he got home from work last nite and then he drove in the yard at 8:30 pm because of problems at work. He was so tired and hot he didn't care to go back out and work on anything. I didn't have any pictures of his bad day but the construction theme worked well as they are building on everywhere at his building right now and common sense seems to have flown out the window.
  11. Continuing documentation of the flowers I've planted this spring.
  12. thanks for your lovely comment and your memories of being at your grandparents station.

    Not My Finest Hour

I used the AWI Fleeting Moments Solids Papers in Red, Blue and Green and the ASO SoBasically Paper2. One technique I used was to put the SoBasically paper on top of the red Fleeting Moments using a Luminosity mode. I made a photo mask using various grungy brushes and the colors orangish red and cream. I clipped my photo to the mask and changed the mask blend mode to luminosity. To get a bit more color I added a green photo mat with Fleeting Moments erasing parts of it and then clipped the blue Fleeting moments to the green mat and adjust the blend modes on each till I got the coloring I wanted. I added an inner soft bevel to the matting and also to the photo mask. My fonts are OOpie's Ma, Papyrus and LDJ Thankful. The journaling reads: My parents bought a service station when I was a junior in High School. I was supposed to work every day after school and on weekends. I didn't want to, I had another job and did not particularly like filling cars with gas(full service, shows my age). I realized later that it was a good job for me. I met lots of people and found I like helping people but this job was not my finest hour at the time for I was a selfish teenager. The sign is all that is left of that service station.
  14. I've been trying to take pictures every couple of weeks to track the growth of my 49 pots of flowers. These are from shortly after I planted and again approx a month later after we had 5 inches of rain. I need to take another picture this week as we have had 6 inches of rain over the 4th holiday weekend. Not much fireworks here. Just RAIN.

    Before and After

This is just amazing. I love your work.
  16. I guess I'm a little behind but I used the BMU Sun Kissed collection for last week's Saturday color challenge. This was our trip to Houston in January 2009

    RIO"S antics

Our Blue Heeler loves to play. If it can be thrown or he can jump he is in heaven. Here are a couple of pics of my son trying to get him to roll over when he jumps. I used KCH_WC_paper_beige_solid BMU_TimeTraveler_EMB_Frames_Gear mjv_funkyfastener_ironminibrad CKA_TrucksandTires_Paper_Blue and Demolition _Stone AASPN Sand Scratched Brushes I duplicated my pictures, erased a little more on the top layer and then added a photoshop style to the bottom layer to get the coloring on the pictures.

    OMAHA

I used the desert paper from ABL_Cowboy UP collection from scrap girls and BMU styles painting textures. I also used sand scratched brushes. We have been to Omaha a couple of times for Brad Paisley concerts and have always had a good time. We also enjoy going to the park that right behind the Quest Center. These statues are right out front and I think they are really cool.

    Grandma Ruth

I used papers from the CKA trucks and tires collection and the SNU memento special paper. I followed the instructions from the Scrap Girls University for adding a styled edge to my frame. This wonderful lady became our grandmother by choice. Her first husband died in an accident and she married my husband's grandfather and enjoyed 20 years with him. After he passed she met the love of her life and enjoyed 10 wonderful years with him before he passed away. She exercises more than all her grandkids, enjoys a bawdy joke and can play a mean harmonica. We don't remember grandpa's first wife. Grandma Ruth is the only grandmother any of us can remember and our lives have been blessed by that.

    Out in the Parking Lot

I used embellishments from the It's A Guy Thing Collection. I think the layout says it all. Between the farm equipment and the vehicles that they tell me will be fixed someday, I sometimes have to park halfway down the driveway. But don't get me wrong. It is a lot cheaper to have a shade tree mechanic than to take everything in to a shop. The only thing is if you come home from work in the wrong order you mess up the whole scheme of things

    BOOTS

I used DCA back to basics alpha, It's a Guy Thing brown paper, It's a Guy thing Worn Mesh, DCA Back to Basics Cardboard Strip, SNU Isn't it Romantic -Twirl, Twilight and Dance floor papers. I used the tutorial from Scrap Girls University to blend my papers using a gradient. I also used the tutorial for making a work path to put my text inside of. I used the loose glitter styles from Scrap Girls on the word BOOTS. the flower on the cardboard strip and I selected an area in the lower left, made a duplicate layer of it and added the loose glitter style there to make it look like dirt. We had 9" of rain over a couple of days last weekend and even our chore boots need some sunshine.

    Dream

This is great. Everything works so well with the black and white photo.

    SPRINKLES

I used the alpha from BACKtotheBASICS kiet and the light tan or vanilla colored paper from the same kit for this layout. I made my own overlay from an old textured picture I had taken. This is Titan Girl's heifer calf. We finally named her Sprinkles. She is so frisky. Always running when the others walk. She is constantly trying to get the bull calves to play with her. She is a little flirt. I don't usually use styles but I use the small glitter style from scrap girls on the letters. I like the way it turned out.
  24. I used Industrial Strength papers. My son has done his first big adult thing. He has bought a fairly new used truck that involves more than a year or 2 of payments. He bought it over the internet from 1500 miles away and when he got it here it had some major engine problems they didn't tell him about. He took care of all the calls to get things repaired and and still kept up with his job and his other responsibilities. I have to keep remembering that he is not my little boy anymore and he can stand on his own 2 feet just fine. I'm proud of how he handled everything.
  25. "This year I want flowers. I want them everywhere. My patio is covered and I just built an area for my glider. The first thing I did before it was even finished was put pots of flowers on it. I think it's because my mom's place always had lots of flowers around it and this is my way of preserving my memories." I used KSC_SSEmbs_Ribbon Mania2. The paper I created myself a long time ago and it fit perfect for the challenge.
