  1. Hello, everyone! I’ve been missing you all. Life has been beyond hectic. I’m moving from the house that I have lived in for 22 years to a cute cottage half the size. PURGING! Hard to part with so much, but it has to go. Hopefully after the move I will be able to be a more regular participant. Miss you all!

  2. With all the ads in my local papers promoting Christmas in July sales it made me think about Christmas projects to give as gifts. My 91-year-old aunt is the last surviving member of my mom's family. I have three grand nephews and one grand niece. I would like to do a calendar for the year 2020 depicting our family (including my parents and grandparents) so my grand nephews  and grandniece could learn a little bit about our family each month. So here's my question to our fabulous designers... Are any of you planning on creating a calendar package for the year 2020? Has anybody else created a genealogy type calendar before? If so, any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thank you so much and have a great day!

Awwww...  It’s a pleasure working with you Linda and that’s what we do here at SG as you know!   That’s great idea that you have the ability to print yourself at home, I’ve done binding but not something that large.    Have you taken a look in the Calendar section in the Boutique?   Brandy Mury used to do one each year and if you like her blended tops, you can always switch out the bottoms for the correct dates.   All you need to do is find a month with the starting date on the right day of the week and use that one.  For instance for July now, you’d find a month that started the 1st on a Monday, ending with the 31st on a Thursday.   Sometimes you might have to erase or add a date at the end of the month, but it’s a fairly easy way to make older calendars work for the year you are using.   HERE’S Brandy’s 2018 calendar;  you can find others HERE to look through, too.   The one Anne Marie shares has lots of possibilities!  Let me know if this doesn’t make sense, I LOVE your idea and what a special gift it will be.  :) Please be sure to post your pages so we can see!

Hi Linda, do you have an idea of  your calendar size and where you might print it?   Because if you are printing at a place like Costco, Shutterfly, Snapfish, etc - you can create the top of each Month as a layout in that size.   Then upload it to the site you are using as a single photo and then add it to that month.   The bottom calendar grid will be already be there on the site so you wouldn’t have to do that part, you’d just plug in the top half.   I’m pretty sure that when making calendars this way you can add names to monthly dates for birthdays, etc.    You’d have to check out the individual companies, I’m not sure of that.   I hope I’m making sense.

That’s a great idea Linda and good question too.  I’ve done calendars but not a genealogy one, I like that and will have to think more about it all...

  5. Who turned the heat on outside?

    1. MariJ

      MariJ

Oh, man...  Don’t go outside even at 7pm when the lawn is shady and try to mow it;  you will come inside 2 hours later a sopping, miserable and not-so-happy mess...   A shower helps and I’m off to look for ice cream!    At the pool today you couldn’t stay out of the water more than 20 minutes before you were hot and sweating today.   It’s finally summer!

  20. Sorry I have been MIA for a while. Our son who had Influenza A was in hospital for 4 weeks. He is recovering at home. Then on Tuesday this week David was taken by the paramedics to hospital from the doctor’s surgery with a suspected heart attack. Turns out he has/had influenza A which has left him with viral cardiomyopathy. He came home yesterday with a whole new eating regime to get our heads around and lots of medication whereas before he wasn’t taking any. Then on Friday I had my second cataract surgery after it was postponed 3 weeks ago because my lens had not arrived at the hospital. But all good now & we can move forward.

  22. It's been a rough week - my SIL is having heart surgery tomorrow and that's all I can think about. The surgeon has a 75% success rate but that does little to relieve my anxiety. I know I'm behind in CT work but just can't focus right now.  If you can send prayers or good thoughts his way, my family will appreciate it.

  24. Winter has hit sunny Queensland. Temperatures are down to single figures & some areas are below 0C. We even have snow about 4 hours away from where we live. Definitely don’t like winter.

Yes!  I remember that and I felt badly as it was an unusually warm day here for Spring - the temps were more summer/July like.  :happy-sun:    We sure had a nice time that day, it’s a happy memory.

Oh dear, I hear you and sure agree Laraine.  Sorry about that, I am NOT a fan of winter either!   On the flip side we’re starting to get some warmer weather - come visit!   (Remember how unusually HOT it was the day you were here?  Probably right around now, right?)
