@MariJ Wanted to let you know that I have no idea of the quality of the baby clothes I ordered at Zazzle. My order was canceled without an email notification whatsoever. In fact, I had an order confirmation email! I found out about the cancellation after going to my account because my daughter still hadn't received the artwork I ordered. Any of the items related to Dalmatians (baby card, three different 8x10s, customized baby bib and onesie (integrating "Baby Xxxx Joins the Pack" with the art work) were all canceled. The unrelated socks I ordered for my son came through. Those were too short for men's socks and I was disappointed.  I assume the cancellation has to be related to copyright, which I didn't even think about since I had obviously customized every item and ordered only one of each, assuming personal use was fine. Nope. I think I will need to print the artwork myself using a laser printer on high quality paper at husband's office. Hopefully it will look okay. But canceling an order, regardless of the reason, with zero notification is just bad form. I won't be shopping there again.

Oh man..   Not good business for sure.   I wondered about copyright because it's Disney images, but assumed they were part of the recent Disney images that were old enough to not be copyrighted anymore.   I should have realized Dalmations is not that old.
I used Zazzle once, it seemed ok but not quite as professional as I'd come to expect.  I think possibly they might be the company where people are selling their own things?  Not sure about that.

At any rate, they certainly should have contacted you if the order was cancelled for ANY reason.  And I think I would not use them again.
I know when I did things like this you could buy transfers for fabric.  If you have access to a good quality printer and/or a good enough Iron that should work.
Another option for clothing is if you have access to a Cricut machine.   Juilanne's Mom made her the most perfect shirt to match her 1-year-old birthday theme and then made all of us NJ IU Fan shirts - the second bunch in about an hour!   It took a little bit of learning but it was no problem.   But, of course you need access to a circuit machine.

As the Welcome Committee member who had been assigned Scrap Chat for April, I asked Angie if it would be all right if we discussed where we ScrapGirls might land next. She was supportive of the idea, and a little later today I will start a discussion thread about that. We have a tight timeline, but I hope we can make a coordinated decision so that we don't find our community scattered to the four corners of the globe. I hope all of you head over to that thread and participate.

A few members and I were discussing this, it would be very helpful.  Also that maybe we could share email addresses to keep in touch, but that would have to be in the private forum for members only to access I would think.   I am checking with Angie and will report back.

  3. I'm glad I didn't see this last night before going to sleep or I probably would have been awake all night.   Very, very sad to read this news - ScrapGirls has been such a huge part of my life and gotten me through so many difficult times - my dear SG friends and the scrapping process itself.  I never thought that online friends could be "real" ones but discovered quickly that they certainly can be and are, no matter where in the world we live.  Who would think I could travel half a world away to visit someone I had never actually met?   My time in Australia with Jody and her family never would have happened without SG and all of you played a part in my story.  It's too hard to write any more, I can't imagine not waking up and checking into the forum each day or creating challenge pages and reading the wonderful comments from my SG friends.  And, "knowing" all our family and friends from our pages.  💜

Wishing you the best, Angie.  You kept us going for many years and gave us extra ones when you took over ScrapGirls.   And, thanks for letting us know here first.

Okay, I warned ya, the hall monitors are looking 👓 LOL. Here is my page. I got in my head and couldn't get past "tree" so its not the kit I thought I would use, its not the format I thought I wanted, but I love how it looks on my version with all the info filled in.

But it's beautiful and what you wanted it to be -- PERFECT!!!  💜

I know but........ HEHE the directions were given and that cemented them in my mind and then ugh what to do. In the end I will probably use Grow old with me kit as it has the feel I think I want but its that pre-coffee moment of what am I suppose to do! And I want to get it right. And everyone seems to have similar themes and then there is me who's way out there with different layouts and then the stress of others will see this and what am I doing and then ...... yeah, I get in my head A LOT! 🤣🤪 I dont fear scrapping police, its the hall monitors!!! 😉 what will they say when I walk down the hall differently or crooked or not the way they wanted 😳  I'm gonna borrow Mikelle's couch and hide behind it!!!! :shycouch:

Tracy, you make me laugh!   Seriously, there is no "right" except what pleases you!   It doesn't matter if your layouts are the same as others, I often do same and I appreciate others who do "different".  But, I get it because "getting in my head" is a trait I share and that is where trouble starts.   I love it - the "hall monitors", that is SO funny.   But you're good, you're always good - it's always good and nothing else!

Yes, it was truly amazing. She was incredible! My 4x great-grandfather had 12 children who lived to adulthood, and I am descended from his youngest, same as this distant cousin, who is my 2nd cousin, 2x removed. Because all the men died so young, we had very minimal contact with this side of the family. We would run into people with the same last name on occasion, given that there were so many living children from the original Thomas, but we were never were quite sure how we were related, and there just wasn't anybody to ask. I was even unaware until I stated doing genealogy in 2019 that my great-great-grandmother, who had remarried, was still alive when I was born and lived in the same town! She died when I was 4, and was never mentioned by my dad. I don't even know if he knew about her.

Wow, wow WOW!  Oh my goodness, this is so amazing, even more so than I first thought.   It's a wonderful find, but sad at these times when we think of our parents and others who aren't here to ask or clarify alway.  But, how awesome to find such a relative and nice and informative to boot!

  7. Haha, from my very few experiences with Starbucks, I think that's true!   Anytime anyone has asked me to pick something up, I make sure to write it down exactly or I'm lost!  🤣

Okay, yep, getting bogged down in technical. What would a heritage paper be? I looked in the store and it shows vintage collections, which I dont own any. So, I haven't had all my coffee yet.🤪 I've only been awake 30 minutes 🤣 and my mind is going on overload of "what am I suppose to do" 🤣🤣

Tracey, I really don't think there are actual "heritage" papers, but most likely that would mean an older, tattered, stained or maybe sepia background, something that looks antique or like from long ago.
Debby can clarify, but honestly I would think your background could be anything you wanted for your family tree and it wouldn't necessarily have to be "old" looking.
April always said on SG, "There's no scrapping police" 😁 but my thoughts would be if you want your page to look "old" you would scrap it that way or in whatever way you'd like.   If you come from a family of fisherman, maybe fish paper would be good.  Or if your family were farmers, that type of paper.   That's the way I would read it, but I think in the end it's up to you.

Debby can explain better I"m sure, but for now I hope that helps.   @Boatlady

Debby - I hope you don't mind, but I think I will delay this heritage layout topic for a week or two. Believe it or not, I have a trip planned on Monday to visit a distant cousin who still lives on the farmstead that has been in my family since the 1820s. I drove through that rural parcel with my brother three weeks ago, just to see the land, and this cousin caught us nosing around and invited us in to chat. I told her my dilemma in identifying our 5x great-grandfather, mentioning our 4x great-grandfather, Thomas, by name. She said, "I have original land grants with his name on them. Let me show you." She pulled out a box filled with very old documents and mentioned there may be a family Bible somewhere. She wanted to dig through her things and it was too much to go through at the time, but we set up a date for April 8 to go through them together. I am nearly giddy about what she might have. Anyway, she may have clues to my big genealogy brick wall, and I don't want to spend time putting together a layout that may get some clarification in just one week! I will pull it together later!

This is really SO awesome, imagine meeting a cousin like that!   Such an amazing find, very cool.

I had forgotten the working size on that older game project was so small and had set mine up even then as 8x8. The palm size sounds interesting!

Way back when in the dark ages 😁, the "All About Me" SG class was my first venture into the site.
Besides being more manageable, part of the appeal of the 4x6" size was you could print as a normal 4x6" photo and it was cheaper and easier to do.

Congrats to the winners! @MariJ I am so happy to see that labor of love for Julianne was recognized! It is a great LO!

And thanks to YOU for your challenge, inspiration and help, without which I'm sure I would not have attempted it.  😊
I did take your advice and last weekend saved a template of this not to have to figure it all out again.   😁

I am so happy you found this inspiring, Marilyn! Like you said earlier, no layout is ever late! Now - important thing is to keep that layout as a template so you don't have to start  all over again! 😁

Oh my goodness, THANK YOU!   I never even thought of that, but will get on it right away.  Even if I didn't use it exactly, it would sure be a start and save a lot of time!

  13. I was so intrigued with the fragmented photo example and have been working and working on this one all week.  It was fun but caught me up in too many pieces for me to obsess in moving a little bit here, a little bit there..  And, sometimes back again...  🤣
Thanks Celestine for your great challenge and inspiration - and encouragement and help to do this.   @Celestine

    So - here's

Have you thought about dividing the set into six months on top and six months on the bottom, and then having a long strip for #13? This way your strips will not be so thin. The showing bits of paper will be fewer but maybe repeating some of the patterns will make it less jumbled looking. Just a thought!

Haha, great minds think alike!   After I wrote the above I realized exactly what you wrote above so I started a layout with 7 strips (because I actually have 13 photos - one from her birth, too) and am working with that!   So far I have been using ombre papers on the strips and only one pattern, just not sure of the patterns since I am using color photos.   They are the ones her Mom had displayed as a banner for her birthday.

And what I did so far was to make 7 strips about an inch and ¼ wide and 10 inches long and arranged them.   Then I made an 8th strip and cut two 2-inch long pieces to place on each of the 7 strips.    I played with some backgrounds, but had to leave it for awhile and will have to again.

This is my basic start, I know it will look different in the end - particularly the papers!   I'll want to move things around, try different papers and see what else I want to add or not.  It might end up looking totally different when I finish.
But, I had already headed into the directions you said, I laughed when I saw your suggestion!

@MariJ As a reminder, I scrap pages in My Memories software, so I hope things translate. I created the photo boxes for the images first, trying to see how wide I needed them to be. If you do 12, then you will definitely be working in photo fragments, where only portions of your images are likely to be visible. So, set the standard width, and then stagger them up and down, and then space evenly (there is an "Align - Space Evenly Horizontal" command for selected items in My Memories.) I am pretty sure there is an Align and Distribute command in PS. Clip an image to each photo box. Then I created two more sets of photo boxes in the same width for each image, and bumped one up and one down from the image box, unevenly. Make sure they are lined up vertically with your image. Clip papers to each photo box. Bring the photo boxes with the images forward so they are layered in front of the boxes filled with papers. I did not place shadows on any of the boxes because I liked the look of the flat and I thought the contrast with the black paper was better without shadows. Also, I should mention that all the photo boxes were the same size for convenience sake, but the layering and staggered bumping up and down makes them look like different sizes.

I hope this explains how I put it together and translates to PS! I know I should learn PS better as it has tools not available in My Memories, but I always think the simplest tasks take soooo much longer in PS. It is probably because I just know MM software extremely well and for some reason PS has NEVER been intuitive for me. Even when I was working in my government job, I knew Adobe's InDesign software really well and could never master PS. Weird, I know. 🤷‍♀️

Thank you again!  In rereading this carefully this morning, now I understand.   For some reason I thought there was a long strip and a photo strip that was put on it.  Now I get it - 3 strips so you can us two different papers!    I actually have 13 photos, so I might have to adjust the idea a bit or they's be VERY tiny!  Thinking on this, we'll see how I go!   And, you're right, I forgot that you work in My Memories software but now that I get the idea, I should be able to work it out in PSE fine, THANK YOU!
