My inspiration for this layout is a painting of Santa and a deer I found at an estate sale. The artist is Bonnie Beade and dated 1962. The painting reminded me of my favorite childhood Christmas musical, Rudolph, the Red-Nosed Reindeer. I had so much fun working the blinking light in Brandy Murrys Junkyard Marquee Value Pack to create the shiny nose. All I did was match the Blinking Junkyard Marquee Lights to a light I added at the end of the deers nose. To give the layout an art journal look, I changed the Blending mode of the painting layer to Color Burn. The inspiration for this page is my obsession and love of vintage coat buttons. I stumbled upon a large collection of various types of buttons a few years ago. Now, I proudly display my coat buttons in a large wooden, primitive-style bowl in my family room. Most of my friends and family tease me about my fascination with buttons, but everyone loves to play with the bowl of buttons! Here is the technique I used: I created a pattern using white and ivory buttons and a green stamp. I applied the pattern to the art doll hair. Next, I placed various vintage coat buttons on the hair and merged the coat buttons into a single layer. I applied the Artistic Cutout filter. Since I wanted more of an art journal look, I set the Blending mode to Hard Light. Published in the 11/17/15 Newsletter - All Buttoned Up. Art journaling is all about combining art with a message. I found the slogan I PINK I CAN on Pinterest. It was derived from the story, The Little Train that Could. It a story of a little train that overcomes his obstacle in life while repeating I think I can. This story remind me of the courage and strength breast cancer survivors have when they share their stories and positive attitude on life. We should all take a lesson from that little train and encourage those in need and not give up our fight for a cure. The cute little girl is my mom when she was about 5 years old. We think the photo was taken on her first day to kindergarten.
