This is lovely. I haven't been around in a while but I love the new comments on the side of the post.
  2. Thanks Carla. That's great to hear and makes a difference for me too.
  3. I bought the big Fiskars rotary bypass self-sharpening cutter with fold-up cutting table. Happy so far. I'm cutting other things besides just paper so I didn't want to run into issues with not being able to cut thicker stuff. Nothing like Fiskars for cutting!
  4. Does anyone have a paper trimmer they're happy with and can recommend? Looking to upgrade from my cheap Darice (which has stood me in good stead but I need something a little more durable, bigger (if possible), with a few more bells and whistles! Cutting more than card stock and paper these days. Also looking for something to square up large uneven sheets of paper prior to cutting - would be ideal if i could use the same trimmer to aid in that.
  5. anyone else having a Groundhog Day party tomorrow? GHD is one of my favorite days, among other reasons, because my dad worked outside on the phone lines when I was a kid. he got so excited about GHD and the possibility of a sooner spring. that sticks w/me today. Having friends over tomorrow night just for fun.

I love celebrating Groundhog Day by watching the classic "Groundhog Day" movie. I never get tired of it - my DH, not so much.

      I love that movie.

  7. I have not baked 70 gingerbread houses - or one, for that matter, but I have made 16 nut rolls in one day!
  8. my car wouldn't start today so i decided to just have a quiet NYE at home. ordered Chinese delivery and oops - ate the fortune cookie - fortune and all! :o

My car wont start either. Evelyn, bless her 3 year old heart, played with the inside light, i did not realize it was left on. 2 days. Dead battery.

  11. Any bullet journalers out there? trying this for 2018. I like the idea of making the pages as I go.

I use a Filofax for planning, and love that it keeps my lists all in one place so I don't lose them. The bullet journaling concept is really cool, I just don't want to spend the time making all the boxes for my pages. I'm sure it gets fast once you get a system. The class I took suggested that when you make mistakes, you just glue two pages together and move on. I'm a little too OCD for that. That is why I'm a ring binder girl. ;)

I read this thread last night, then had to look up "bullet journaling" - hadn't heard of it before.  After reading about it, I did order some very simple notebooks to try it out.  I've essentially been doing bullet journaling for a while already, at work; I've got a lined journal I bought at a bookstore, where I just have different pages of information - one a list of pager numbers for the surgeons I work with, one a list of passwords (sssssshhhhh... I can't keep track otherwise), my on-going to-do list, a list of cases that would make good teaching cases, etc.  I do like the freedom of it, makes sense to try using it in my home life, too.  And it could help with scrapping.

i'm a little OCD too, April. We'll see how this goes. I like the idea of using an index in front, and i'm going to keep my lists/collections in the back. what do I have to lose to try it.

  12. that's very cute actually! and perfect for a layout. love the grunge look. well done!
  13. what a fascinating story and you've illustrated it here so beautiful. I especially love the poppies towards the front.

Marilyn, sadly I have to say I see why people love Mac. There is just something solid and satisfying about it. I also know (from experience) why people love Windows. I see the good in both. The printer & connectivity thing are the tipping points for me. I'm trying to sell my Mac but secretly maybe no one will buy it and I can straddle both worlds! (if ex-DH knew I bought another laptop, LOL!)

  19. Great song and I love what you've done here!
  20. in the past 2 days, I've managed to lose my glasses, my keys, and tonight I left my Bible & a couple books at Barnes & Noble. <_< oops. on a good note, I bought myself a Windows laptop tonight. came home, within 5 minutes had connected to my network and printer and was immediately able to print. I really hope this solves my issues and I will be selling my Mac. whew.

Whew, glad the ending is good.  I hate when I lose things and it seems to go in spurts of more than one thing.

  21. took the T to town today and somewhere between there and here, i managed to lose my keys.  hopefully they fell out of my pocket on the T and someone turns them in. they are on significantly marked lanyard. sheesh.
