  1. Everyone is doing so well I hope you are having fun.

I am glad there were no problems yesterday. We had a very good friend pass away early morning yesterday rather unexpectedly so I spent the day helping my friend get things together. I will be spending allot of time with her but will try to keep an eye on this Monthly Event.

    Thank you all

April 5 Pets through the years
Start new page with 2 neutral color papers then blend them. Did you have pets? what were they do your remember the names do you have pic’s to share. Add any journaling. add at least 6 embellishments. If you never had any pets tell why and if you wanted one and what was your wish. Post your page.

So, I've had a thought: Would you like to have a meeting place where we could still keep up with each other, share our layouts, and have community? If you're in, I would be more than glad to start a private Facebook group that could continue (forever), and we could still keep doing most of the things that make this place so meaningful... posting our latest pages, dropping in updates on what we're up to, and who knows, maybe even having a game or an online meet-up occasionally?

I would be glad to set it up (today even!) so we can begin migrating over there and setting up the place.

As a private group, that means posts would not be visible to everyone else on FB. Members would ask to be approved -- and we can even set up a little criteria about who can get in. Example: If someone requests membership in the group, I can ask them for their SG message board profile name. (I am presuming I can get a list of MB members' names from April and Angie....) Or something else. I'm open to ideas.

    What do you all think?

I'm all in for that. My husband suggested it too. sadly some members are not on FB and don't want to join.

  3. April 4 Early Childhood
Use more heritage paper to start your page. Do you have siblings. What is your birth order in the family?  Where did your family live back then? Do you remember the street name and address? Did you move to different homes. Photos?  Post your page.

  4. Well you are all doing so well, the family tree seems to be a great format for most of you. Well here we go to another day, another page!!

Well since Angies Important Message we will be adjusting our schedule The end of time for this book will be the 20th --Winner of Gift Card - all entries must be posted by midnight 22nd - will be announced on 24th which will give the winner a week to use it in the store. I worked hard to make this be a month long book but since we do not have much time I have condensed it a little and after drawing I will post a few other subjects you could add to your book if you want. Thank you all for understanding. I am wishing Angie the best but I sure will miss this place.

  5. This breaks my heart and I wish you well. I am good friends with many SG scrappers and intend to stay that way, it will just be a little harder to keep up. I have enjoyed my time here and learned so much. I hope to see my friends on another digi-scrapbook site in the future. I  really do not know what it say other than I will miss SG and all of you.

Okay, I warned ya, the hall monitors are looking 👓 LOL. Here is my page. I got in my head and couldn't get past "tree" so its not the kit I thought I would use, its not the format I thought I wanted, but I love how it looks on my version with all the info filled in.

Those hall monitors may have looked but will not bother you..They were wondering what you were doing dragging the tree around but looked away.

  7. First of all I want to apologize for not getting in touch about problems yesterday.  I was working at club all day then to a friends house for dinner and we got home late. Please do not stress about details on this project...it's your book and I told the scrap police👮‍♀️ not to pay attention to us for this month. What I put out there are just ideas and I am sure you all will have other ideas that is what is so wonderful about scrapping...it can be personal and creative.

April 3 finish up your family history page, this one could take some time to do... post your page.

My page is very simple but I can tell some of you have much more history than I do so have a fun time making your page.

Here's my cover. It's not fancy, but I think it suits me pretty well. I'm keeping my middle name and the middle names of my family as well as our birth years private, so our identities are kept safe. Everyone else may want to as well. :)

You can make a copy with no names to post  here and  then for your private book you can have names exposed. I do not want you to do something you are not comfortable with.

I know but........ HEHE the directions were given and that cemented them in my mind and then ugh what to do. In the end I will probably use Grow old with me kit as it has the feel I think I want but its that pre-coffee moment of what am I suppose to do! And I want to get it right. And everyone seems to have similar themes and then there is me who's way out there with different layouts and then the stress of others will see this and what am I doing and then ...... yeah, I get in my head A LOT! 🤣🤪 I dont fear scrapping police, its the hall monitors!!! 😉 what will they say when I walk down the hall differently or crooked or not the way they wanted 😳  I'm gonna borrow Mikelle's couch and hide behind it!!!! :shycouch:

LOL no scrap police and the hall monitors will not bother you either so get out from behind Mikelle's couch. There is not right or wrong, I really just wanted to give you idea's and get you started. I'm sorry to cause so much confusion.

Tracey, I really don't think there are actual "heritage" papers, but most likely that would mean an older, tattered, stained or maybe sepia background, something that looks antique or like from long ago.
Debby can clarify, but honestly I would think your background could be anything you wanted for your family tree and it wouldn't necessarily have to be "old" looking.
April always said on SG, "There's no scrapping police" 😁 but my thoughts would be if you want your page to look "old" you would scrap it that way or in whatever way you'd like.   If you come from a family of fisherman, maybe fish paper would be good.  Or if your family were farmers, that type of paper.   That's the way I would read it, but I think in the end it's up to you.

Debby can explain better I"m sure, but for now I hope that helps.   @Boatlady

There are no scrap police and it's your book so do what pleases you. Marij it so right. Make the page and don't worry so much ...for heritage pages use old looking papers and supplies. I'm sure you have seen them with out realizing what they are. Just have fun.

Debby - I hope you don't mind, but I think I will delay this heritage layout topic for a week or two. Believe it or not, I have a trip planned on Monday to visit a distant cousin who still lives on the farmstead that has been in my family since the 1820s. I drove through that rural parcel with my brother three weeks ago, just to see the land, and this cousin caught us nosing around and invited us in to chat. I told her my dilemma in identifying our 5x great-grandfather, mentioning our 4x great-grandfather, Thomas, by name. She said, "I have original land grants with his name on them. Let me show you." She pulled out a box filled with very old documents and mentioned there may be a family Bible somewhere. She wanted to dig through her things and it was too much to go through at the time, but we set up a date for April 8 to go through them together. I am nearly giddy about what she might have. Anyway, she may have clues to my big genealogy brick wall, and I don't want to spend time putting together a layout that may get some clarification in just one week! I will pull it together later!

Thats fine...It sounds like you will have an amazing page when you get all that wonderful heritage info...You may have to make 2 pages.

  12. April 2 and 3 Heritage Family

Start page with heritage papers. Photos if you have any. Maybe a family tree or just list in order Any info about your grandparents. What is your father and mother's family name? What did your grandparents/parents do for a living. Please describe what you know about your family history, such as where they originated from and what their situation was there. Make sure you put details of your birth too or adoption if that is the case.   Any other memories- 3 lines of journaling or more. Use appropriate heritage  embellishments as many or a few as you like.

I realize getting this all together may take time so you have tomorrow too.

We will be jamming allot into these pages so  I hope you all are ok with it. I have lots of interesting topics ahead in the next few weeks.

I enjoyed making mine so I hope you have fun too.

Great topic. I already have pages done about me that are just random right now. Hopefully I can insert them into this album.

So.... I'm IN! Might not get other scrapping done, but will this. I have a poem in mind to go on the cover. Got to write it first. Leave early tomorrow for CA for 2 1/2 weeks so will be sporatic posting.

@BoatladyDebbie a question? Can a graphic be used on the cover with a mask?

Sure just don't use a photo that looks like a photo.  But it is your book so go for it.

  14. Time is passing and memories are slipping away. We will be making a book for our future generations....A book about you!!  I will post prompts but remember it’s your story so do as you wish. I suspect there will be lots of journaling but it will be worth it plus we will get to learn about you too.

Use photos if you have some and prompts will tell you what else to use. Remember you are telling the story to future generations I have been using allot of journaling to tell my grandchildren about my life. I am trying to make if simple If you want to make a 2 pager on any of the subjects that would be great. You do not have to use every subject as some may not apply. Post to Hodge Podge Gallery when prompted to. I hope you have fun with this project. You do not need to post in progress work in this thread.

Now to get started----Make a cover page or book cover. Make it fancy or plain it’s up to you. Use 2 papers then blend. Use  an alpha or a font -add a style. No photos! Make sure you use your name as the author. Post when done.

Speaking of March Madness, tonight was the first real night of NCAA tournament games - both Gonzaga and WSU (Washington State University) won!  I'm in Spokane, so we've always cheered on the Zags.  I remember yeeeaaaarrrrssss ago when I was in dental school in Maryland, one of my roommates (who was from Connecticut) mentioned March Madness, and said something about some random team named Gonzaga (she pronounced it Gonzaahhhga) being in it that she'd never heard of.  I was so surprised - really, like Gonzaga from Spokane?!!!  It was the first year the Zags made it into the tournament, they were a Cinderella team that year - and if I remember right, they made it to the final 4!  Out of nowhere.  I had never paid any attention to March Madness until then, but I have ever since, no matter where I've lived.

Does anyone else here pay attention to the NCAA tournament?  If so, who are you rooting for?

I'm not any kind of sports fan but since I am from Connecticut---Huskies. Super proud of the women's wins in past years, not sure what their stats are now.
