Instead of finding an image (I couldn't) that would work, I decided to use the color and create word art.
I used snu_ayo jeweled flora flourish and AFT Paper Reinvent LOM-1

Thank you. It turned out better than I'd hoped, I was about ready not to turn it in!

I enjoyed this challenge. It took me a while to find the sense of what I wanted and then the products to make it work, but I also used things I'd not paid close attention to.
I used: BMU's City Park Charm adding a back ground and type, Zoomba Ribbon that I used a hue filter on and Embossed paper 6 to which I clipped a copy of the photo.
EBA Rose Gold Crystalline paper for the bg.
DRB Girl Power for the striped paper.
SBA Breathtaking frame that I reduced the transparency on.

Love this. I'm going to try this for the Challenge Chase.

Very Elegant. Love the patterns and the colors you chose.

I can't wait to print them out, and put them side by side. Though I might try and fix Dad's first

This is a wonderful page! It draws you in, then you stop and look at everything carefully. Beautiful use of images, embellishments, color and curved word art. Well done.

Thank you for your kind words. I wanted simple and to let the journaling and her picture be the focus.

Thank you. Mom is a very special person. She and Dad adopted my brother and I. She called us the chosen ones. My favorite saying was "Lessie Do It" and both my parents nurtured that in me. At 95 she's slowing down a bit, but when I see the twinkle in her eye, I grin, and later I tear up.

Very, very nice. Love the way you've played with the circle idea throughout.

Thank you and yes, it's straight from our hearts. I get a bit weepy when I do these as mom is struggling a bit. But she has my brother to help her (he's the angel of the family) and I know she's in her home and in good hands.

Thank you. Mom is 94.5 and I feel her more everyday. Odd, but true.

This is gorgeous! Did you have to edit the photos? I love them, and the whole grayscale of the layout. Thanks for joining the challenge.
I just took off some the scanner paper and added contrast to the bottom photo. Oh, and I did a bit of spot removal, but wanted to keep the age still in the photos.

I think i’s simply wonderful. What font did you use? You lead the eye, and the blending is lovely.

Great job, your page is wonderful. I learn so much from seeing what other people do. Wonderful

Recipe sounds great. And I love that you did all this on the iPad. I'm not that brave yet.

Thank you all. I wasn't on the computer for the last couple of days so missed your comments. You guys are so nice. Now that I'm home for a month, I have time to look at all the layouts. You all inspire me. I had a really tough time with this, but kept at when I needed a break from writing.

What a lovely looking pie!!!?Fun looking background and I like your blending with the grey and the green. My thoughts on the ribbon and really they are only my thoughts? First I think you have made a fabulous rosette ribbon, but often first prize is in red and blue is second but thats only what I have grown up with, perhaps that is changing? also I think that maybe the placement of the ribbon could be in the middle of the page with the bottom ribbons just touching the photo. Otherwise I think you have done awesome!?
You know I totally forgot to add what I'd created for the side to the blue ribbon. YIKES. I had the word Recipe and I Love To Bake and turned it off, then posted it on the gallery. How funny. And I double checked, blue ribbon denotes the winner at least in the States Thanks so much for looking, you are always so helpful
