Journaling:
When it was time to get rid of your
pacifiers I told you that we were going
to plant them and grow a pretty flower.
Your Gramme gave us the pot and said
we could start with some of her hens
and chicks. You put the pacifiers in
the pot yourself and filled the pot
with dirt. You picked out a mommy,
daddy and a baby from the hens and
chicks and told us where you wanted
each one in the pot. We put the pot in
front of our home so you could keep
your eye on it. Even Uncle Mike got in
on it and when we woke up the next
morning there was a little plant
growing with your hens and chicks.
Uncle Mike found us another pot
and told us that it would grow to be a
big sun flower. You were so excited. He
loved how excited you got so every day
he added another flower or plant to our
growing collection. Finally, one day when
we got home we saw that Uncle Mike
had started making a space for you to
have your own garden. Over time he
has planted a bunch of sun flowers
and some sun devils. We still have
the first pot with the "passie plants"
but I think you love the sun flowers best.
I love to watch you studying the flowers
and investigating in the dirt. It started
out as a way to help you let go of your
pacifiers, but it has turned into a
beautiful garden and some wonderful
memories for all of us.
