I never thought I'd have an athlete. Band, orchestra, theater, debate club, academic decathlon, chess club...I was prepared for any of those. But when she announced one evening that she was going to try out for basketball, I was shocked. She had always refused to play sports of any kind. When I found out that practices started at 5:30 AM I thought she would quit. But the first time I saw her play, I saw things in this child that I didn't know existed. Grit. I always knew she was stubborn, but that deep down determination to pick herself up off the floor and get right back in the mix of things - that was new. Basketball was never something I would have picked for her, but it turned out to be one of the best things in all of Junior High. William got several shots at his last doctor visit. I LOVE all of the hilarious things little kids say and do. And scrapbooking is such a great way to preserve them. Even when you don't have a picture, you can still record the memory.
