Bear is part border collie with a lot of others mixed in. We keep his coat trimmed short. He loves "Spa Day." He gets all excited when we get there and comes home exhausted.....or relaxed, I'm not sure which! It is hard to believe this picture was taken 9 years ago. We were on our way to Austin for a Wayne Toups concert (zydeco band) and we saw this field of bluebonnets. Journaling: My husband, My Valentine. Darrell's birthday is Valentine's Day. This one was extra special, as he turned 50. We started the day with breakfast in bed for him, and I gave him his gift, a new wedding ring. I had a surprise party for him at his favorite hangout. It was a great day. My husband turned 50 on Valentine's Day. I took a whole lot of pictures, but I particularly liked this one of him. I used Valerie Randall's Over the Hill collection and I totally scraplifted her page as well :-) Thanks for the inspiration Valerie!

This picture was taken on March 23, 2008 almost one year after my lap band procedure. I have lost between 95 and 100 pounds depending on when I weigh. Recently after being sick, I lost 12 lbs in one weekend, but when I rehydrated, I put most of that back on. Lately, I've been struggling with sweets and with snacks. Stress I guess, but I keep plugging along. Thanks for looking. These are more of the pictures from Cooper Lake, taken the first week in October. This is my first attempt using blending modes, having purchased the e-booklet from the boutique over the weekend. This is somewhat embarrassing, but at the same time, it is something I feel needs to be scrapped and journaled. I've fought weight problems all my life. In April 2006, I made a decision to have gastric bypass surgery. During the course of this process, on September 19, 2006, I lost the vision in my right eye due to a detached retina. While I don't have diabetes, retinal detachment is a symptom of diabetes. My doctor said it was due to my age (thank you very much) and weakened eye wall due to extreme nearsightedness. After three surgeries for the eye, I had given up on the bypass surgery. I just didn't think it was feasible. But, my doctor called and asked if I still wanted to do it and I thought why not go ahead and see if it is possible. After many other complications, I ended up with lap band surgery instead. Due to a very large hernia, the doctor was unable to do the gastric bypass laprascopically; he would have had to made a very large incision. So, we had discussed getting the lap band in that event, which is what happened. This picture was taken the night before surgery, at a whopping 355 lbs. That's not my highest weight. Before the presurgery diet I weighed 364. It is shameful to admit such a weight, but if my story can help others, that's great. The surgery was April 11, 2007. To date, I've lost 55 lbs. I'll put up a now picture later (or you can see one from last week in Vegas in the crop gallery).
