  1. Only in digital can I manipulate my own pictures to spotlight just one or two colors AND recolor an embellishment to the precise shade of yellow. The brush work isn't messy, and I can get the precise colors I want without investing in massive quantities of ink. Gotta love digital scrapping!! All supplies from SPI_MyFavoriteMouse Made in PSE13

  2. I selected 12 of the 14 colors to back each photo in this template. The subjects are so full of color, the backgrounds just enhance them. Journaling: "My first day in Florida was also the only day during my stay that the Magic Kingdom would be open until 11PM. Once I realized that, I decided to spend my first evening at Walt Disney World in this park. It’s also rather nostalgic to start my vacation in this park, since it’s the first (and only) park I visited when the family came here in 1972, the year after Walt Disney World opened. "This parade, Disney’s Electrical Parade, was run twice in the evening before the park closed, so I stuck around and watched (and photographed) both runs. I loved it that Tinker Bell led the way for the entire convoy. And seeing Elliot from Pete’s Dragon made my Disney heart squee with delight!" 5. The Wizarding World of Harry Potter opened a new section this summer, highlighting the shops where Harry and his friends buy their school supplies. Fred & George Weasley’s joke shop is here, too. Atop Gringotts Bank is the Ukrainian Ironbelly that Harry freed in The Deathly Hallows. I was very excited about seeing this theme park. The shops feature many things mentioned in both the books and movies. The attention to detail is impressive. It was interesting to learn that the dragon flames the alleyway at random times, so a large crowd would often stand, waiting, for quite a while. I particularly enjoyed the advertisements painted on the sides of buildings as well as the magical items displayed in the shop windows. 11. I designed these map pointers with the Iconic Embellishments in mind, but they are also great with photos inserted into the windows like I've done here. This was a fun way to scrap a few photos of our trip to Key West last summer. While it's just an abstract map, it still gives the impression that we toured the city during our time there. It was a wonderful trip! 12. Another delightful slow scrap process, you definitely have me working outside my comfort zone! Journaling reads: "I took a solo sight-seeing trip to Washington, DC, and made it a whirlwind weekend. It was quite an experience to see these familiar structures in broad daylight and then again at sunset, dusk and beyond. Our nation’s capital truly is beautiful, inspiring patriotism when I least expected it. 13. This is the featured layout for ScrapSimple Paper Templates: Iconographic. The template includes a "crease" to give it dimension. I added deep shadows under the photos to enhance the dimension. I blended a photo of the big EPCOT ball in the background to help us remember where the photos were taken. I let the graph tell the story. This was a really fun day and I wanted a special layout, but it came together relatively quickly with the help of the templates. 14. One of the entrances to the Lakenhalle in Ieper (Ypres) Belgium. Dates back to end of 12th Century, served as the main market and warehouse for the Flemish city's prosperous cloth industry.
  15. "After our tour group returned to port from Mount Etna, I took a walk. This sleepy Sicilian town was very quiet on a Sunday afternoon. Only a couple blocks from the harbor I came across this church. It’s being renovated, but that doesn’t diminish its beauty. I loved seeing another example of St. Mark’s lion. And the statue of the Blessed Mother and Baby Jesus is gorgeous! The perfect finale to this beautiful day." 18. This color challenge was very easy to meet. My day in Athens was a year ago, and I've been reminiscing about the adventure. Ironically, I haven't yet visited the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier at Arlington Cemetery, but after seeing this changing of the guard, I'm even more determined to include that on my to-do list the next time I visit Washington, D.C. Journaling: "Athens' Tomb of the Unknown Soldier commemorates all those Greek soldiers who died in service of their country over its long history. Among its inscriptions are quotes from Pericles Funeral Oration as written by Thucydides in his History of the Peloponnesian War : 'and one bed is carried empty / made for the unknown ones.' During major holidays, politicians and officials lay wreaths at the tomb. "The tomb is guarded 24 hours a day by the Presidential Guard (the Evzones). These are the hand-picked strongest men of the army. Their traditional uniform features a skirt, stockings and pom-poms on their shoes." Mnēmeíon Agnōstou Stratiōtou = Tomb of the Unknown Soldier in Greek Also, a bit of trivia I learned years ago when I worked with a Greek man: You may have heard or said the saying "It's Greek to me" meaning you don't understand something (often technical jargon). In Greece, they say "It's Chinese to me." Supplies: GWH_Grown With Love Fonts: Tempo Heavy Condensed, Perpetua Made in PSE12

    Trevi Fountain

Journaling: "Our second stop during our whirlwind day in Rome was to Piazza di Trevi, dominated by its amazing fountain. Our group also had time for a gelato, and I picked up a few postcards and my commemorative magnet." ...and underneath the images... "The main statue of the fountain does not represent Neptune, but Ocean. In fact, Neptune often has a trident in his hands and a dolphin following him. Instead, as its designer Nicola Salvi wrote, the statue is an image of Ocean, the personification of an immense river that flows around the earth and from which all streams of water derive. Ocean was the son of Sky and Vesta. From his union with Thetis, rivers and sources of water were born. "The beard of Ocean is a symbol of wisdom and power. The wand is short and thick, similar to the ones held by Roman emperors portrayed in many ancient coins. The restless horse represents the violent strength of the sea. The calm horse in contrast is a symbol of the tranquility of the sea. The statue of Abundance holds the symbol of plenty, a horn filled with fruits and produce."
