I have Microsoft Digital Image Pro 10 and 2006. I bought these, the ScrapSimple Digital Layout Templates: Curled, thinking...drum roll please....you would put a paper down, then the template and then another piece of paper. Yes this is my first time using a template and I have been thinking about buying the ScrapSimple Embellishment Templates: Curled Edges. I just need a kind and loving nudge in the right direction......no slapping your forehead, shaking it and saying "you have to be kidding me".
lol
thank you so much for your time

It is almost that easy, Really! You can do this. :)

The hardest part will be when you drag all of the parts into your layout you will have to line them up.... I can't figure out how to get this automatic. Then it is easy. Select the shape you wish to fill with a paper and go to Effects (at the top)> Fill with paper or Texture> when that opens you have the option of filling with a picture. If you opened your paper in your open files just select it, otherwise you can browse to your paper and open from there. Fill each of the solid shapes this way, (Not the gradient ones) and this should give you the right look. Make sure they are layered in the right order in your stack for it all to look right.

Now, the embellishment templates are even easier, you just pop them onto the top of your paper and erase or delete with your selection tool (instructions are the same as the included Photoshop instructions). The hardest part of the Curled Edges is getting the shadowing right, and just a hint, if you use a soft shadow you can get a good effect.

If you have any other problems with that let me know, I have DIP and can try them out for ya!

These are a little different because they are not layered as I thought origionally. They are one piece, and the instructions demonstrate using a transparency... but I can't seem to get that technique to work. What I did is use the magic wand to delete the solid gray part of the template so that the paper underneath would show through. Do this by grabbing the magic wand selector and setting the number to 1 and the box to contiguous. Click in the large solid gray area and you will see marching ants around this selection. Then if you know how to switch to your brush selector you can "deselect" those two little lines on the curl that got selected by default. Just brush them away. Then to color the curl part go to your adjust hue and saturation menu. You can then color the gray parts by adding or taking away colors on the color slider and adjusting the saturation.

That is a little more difficult. BUT, still doable, and it turns out just perfect. If you need help more with this please post again and I will see what I can do.

:)

Yesterday was a very hectic day with my son's mri's helping my dad and my aunt, my husband knew how bad I wanted to learn this however I didn't tell him I had asked ya'll for help. So he did this...paper...template, then used the transparency and even on it until your paper comes up and the curl is still intact. second color paper under all that and use the transparency brush on the first paper to bring up the second color. I know I don't know how to explain this well. going to try your method in just a minute but, I wanted to tell you what he figured out while I was out.
will try yours and tell ya how it worked for me.
also looking over newsletter now.
Thank you all
Mel

well I get it. if I have a paticular print I will use husband's idea but, for solid colors yours works wonderfully. Yeah....I'm on my way now.
Thank you again
Mel
