I am new to digial scrapbooking, but I already have the program called Microsoft Digital Image. Can someone tell me how do I do the brushes in there? or do you think I need to buy Photoshop Elements.
I don't see any classes that use this program. Does anyone use this, that can help me get started.

I dont not know anything about your program, but I love my photoshop elements. Plus, I bought the secrets revealed tutorials and the brushes ebook and have learned so much. I did not see that they have any tutorials for your program, but I could be wrong. hope someone could help you better then i was able to.

Hi there!
Welcome to ScrapGirls. I started my digital scrapbooking with Digital Image Pro, You can most certainly do a lot of things with this program. Even if it is only the standard edition you can use it for most applications. You can use Brushes as PNG's. (At ScrapGirls we sell all our brushes as PNG for use in most programs and the ABR's for use in Photoshop). You would just take the image and drop it into your layout and then fill with colors or papers, rotate it and adjust the trasparency just like you would for any other image. There are a few tutorials in the University for DIP.

I did find however that as I learned more and explored digital scrapbooking more, I kind of outgrew DIP. There are just some things you can't do as well. There are some people who use it for a long time. My sister just loves it! But if you are in the market for purchasing a more powerful program than Photoshop Elements is a great way to go. There are a lot of tutorials, and Ro's Secrets movies to help you get started.

Either way, if you have specific questions about how to use things ask away, I still have DIP on my computer and I love helping people get the most out of it. It is a pretty easy program to pick up, just to get the hang of it. :)

Good Luck!
Happy Scrapping,
Melissa Renfro

Hi, welcome to digital scrapping! I am a die hard Microsoft Digital Image user. I've tried Photoshop before, but can't get it to do things as fast as I can in DIP. Most things in DIP are fewer key strokes compared to Photoshop. Most of my layouts take 15 minutes. That's why I continue to use DIP even though I have Photoshop. If you check out my album, you'll see the layouts don't look any less professional than the Photoshop users. But admittedly, there are some drawbacks. One is fewer available tutorials. Nonetheless, the software is very intuitive so fewer tutorials are needed. Another drawback is lack of manipulation of tools. But as you get more advanced in your LOs, you'll find that even that can be overcome by increasing your available filters using outside sources. My advice to my friends who ask me which software to choose is to think about first, what they want to accomplish and second, how much time is available to accomplish it. In other words, if you have a stack of 500 photos you want to scrap, then I'd say stick with your Microsoft Digital Image because it's faster. Oh, and make sure you have at least 2MB of RAM for either software package. They are both RAM hogs.

Hello and welcome! I started out using DIP and loved it. It is very user friendly and relatively inexpensive. Loved it! What Melissa said about the pngs is right. You can do most things that photoshop users do, but in a round about way. Do a google search for DIP tutorials, there are a ton out there. Like melissa, I outgrew DIP very fast. I used it for about 3 months, and needed more. DigiScrapping is very addictive and like a drug, I couldn't get enough. Now I'm a photoshop 7 user and yes, photoshop has a high learning curve and can be spendy, BUT it is very powerful. Minnie is absolutely right on the RAM, they are HOGS! I'm only running 1gb, which when I bought my pc was enough per the bestbuy geeks. Boy they were wrong! My pc is only 5 months old and I'm getting ready to upgrade to a min of 2 gb. Just be prepared that with either program, the longer you are on it scrapping, the slower it will get. SAVE SAVE SAVE!!! It is terrible when you are almost done with a LO and your comp crashes. I've learned the hard way. Good luck and have fun!!!

Hello. I have a question: How do I use the Microsoft Digital Image Pro on the folded corners feature that I see on so many of the layouts? Is there a tutorial/instructions for this in the SG University? Thanks, Parry
