I guess I should have given more about myself in the "Lurkers..." but, didn't, so here goes...hope I don't bend your "ear" too much.

I live in the wild, wonderful, where they have to pipe in civilization, state of WV. I was born and raised here, met the love of my life while living in Dallas, TX and was transplanted to far, far west TX in the desert. My daughter and I moved back here after he passed away. We needed to heal and I knew we could do it better here. We lost most of our family in a 2 yr. period and it's been hard on us.

I'm disabled and have trouble using hands a lot (I use a Wacom tablet and speech recognition to help), but I have a big heart and my brain is still working, so I am blessed in many other ways. I paper scrap also, but the computer is better (easier) for me to use. I'm still trying to learn PSP8 and will eventually, but some if it is soooo complicated.

It's nice to meet all of you.

Welcome Bella!

So sorry to hear of your losses. You sould like a very strong woman!

My sister is out in the Midland/Odessa area! One spring I was visiting from NY, and it was so windy I had to hold onto something everywhere we went to keep from being pushed over. My skinny stringbean BIL said "Yup, I guess it is kind of breezy." BREEZY? Geesh! hee hee!

We're glad to have you here, Bella! :D

Thanks everyone! It's great to be here! Everyone is so friendly and supportive.

About that wind in Midland/Odessa.....usually there is NO wind, just dry and hot, but when it blows, you'd best be holding onto something. lol. Used to be a "storm chaser" and ended up jumping right in the middle of things quite often.

I can already feel the warmth there is here. All of you sound kind and compassionate and that's a rarity anymore. I feel honored to be here and hope that I can offer something positive in return.

Hi Bella. It's nice to meet ya. I am Josie and I've just joined also. I am also disabled and don't do a lot of typing and love doing my LOs on the pc. It is so much easier to use than trying to hold the scissors.

Hi Bella,

Nice to meet you! Where are you in WV? I currently live in Indiana, but I lived in WV until I was 23, and my parents are still there near Clarksburg.

Glad to have you here!

I am just so overwhelmed at everyone who has taken the time to welcome me. I don't know what to say other than Thank You so much! :D

It's been a long time since I've had "human interaction" and it's scary opening a door I had shut.

I've just recently started looking at our pictures and know I have to preserve memories for my youngest daughter. I don't want her to forget her family, as the years tend to rob us of some of our most precious memories, especially when we're young, and she has forgotten so much. Scrapbooking is my gift to her (IF I can ever figure out PSP8!). The message board, well, that's my gift to me! Lol.

I hope I haven't rambled too much. It won't happen again...lol.

Jomi, thanks! This is a good place to be!

JadeDolphin, you're an inspiration!

wxchic, thanks! Everyone is great!

Josie, scissors and me are like oil and water...lol.

DeeZee, wow! Eastern New Mexico brought back some really good memories...Carlsbad in the spring...Thanks! But I do so miss the cactus flowers!

And Nicole, I live about 26 miles outside of Clarksburg, south. It is so such a small world!

Welcome, Bella! I think you've definitely found the right place to help heal your spirit and bring you back to "people". I've gone through some loss and heartache and cut myself off but I can tell already that it's going to be a big help reaching out and interacting with people here.

I am a novice at digital could you tell me what PSP8 is and if it is a good program? Currently I use digital embellishments, however I would like to do completely digital once I get the right software.

Hi PJ,

Nice to meet you.

Ok, now for your question. I'm not the greatest at explaining something, but I'll try.

PSP8 is Paint Shop Pro 8 by Jasc. Jasc was bought out by Corel, so they now own it. It's an imaging software that you can use with photographs and scrapbooking, etc. The thing I like about it is that if you can imagine it, you can create it. Some of it is complicated, like the histograms, script and other features, but I've found the best way to learn is just to play with it. I've read tutorials and tried a couple, but I don't seem to retain the info as much as I do if I play with it on my own. You can take photographs and make them look any way you want: sharp, soft, b&w, tinted, distorted, and some you probably wouldn't have even thought of. I've taken some photos I thought were useless and got them to look good. And if you don't like what you've done, you can just click under "edit" and click on "undo" and it's gone. You never ruin the original unless you save it in the same file. It does use a lot of your computer's memory and hard drive but they say version 9 uses much less. If you want to try it out, you can download a 60 day trial by going to www.corel.com. It's worth a try if you're looking for something. I love what I can do with it, and I'm just learning, so I know as I become more experienced, it will be even better. And it's excellent for scrapbooking, because of the layering that's done. It's also more affordable than some others that are out there.

Well, I don't know if I helped much, but I'm sure you can find better info than what I've given in the forums here or at the Corel website.

Hope it helped a little.

Yeah! And I actually went for a little walk this evening and *stopped and smelled the flowers*. Took video camera to get some stills, but I think I messed 'em up....had the shakes, didn't eat first, too excited...lol. Glad daughter was with me, had her pushing buttons. It felt great! And to think we had snow, snow, snow, and rain, and sleet out the whatzit for 3 days. Do you believe, snow in late April? I've seen it snow in June, though....whoa, could happen again! Weather has gone crazy!

I was really disappointed with winter this year.....cold as you-know-what and very little snow that stuck for very long. I knew this one wouldn't last, but it sure was pretty to watch. I love to take winter pics, but didn't even bother this year...oh well, maybe next year. And, it is time for shooting flower pics, so I'm happy.

It's now getting to that time of year where we get what I call "London" fog....it gets so thick you can't even see the front of your car. Bothersome starting early eve, but early morn can bring some awesome sights.
