Donna_R
Has anyone successfully used Costco or costco.com to print their 12x12 pages? I set up a page in 12x12, but when I went to print it out, they only had a 12x18 sheet. I thought this would work, but it ended up cropping the page to fit the entire 12x18. IS there something I am missing? is there a better way to do this? Thanks.
Laurel Lakey
The way I do it, is to make sure that I either 1.) Open a new document that is 12x18 size, pull my flattened layout over to it, and make sure that it is taking up only the 12x12 size at the top. Then I can upload this document to Costco.com and print out 12x18's without having it stretch. 2.) I take in a CD of my 12x12 layouts and specifically tell the technician there that I need them printed on 12x18, then cut to 12x12. Just make sure that they know your layouts are 12x12 and they should be able to manually do it for you. You just need to talk to them. HTH! Good luck, I always print my stuff at Costco if I want the glossy or lustre photo paper. If I want the cardstock look, though, I always use SBtoShare.com. They're great with digital scrapbookers and they're prices can't be beat! Happy printing!
Shari PV Mom
My local Costco doesn't even offer 12 x 18. If they did I would probably do that rather than making the bound coffee table books just because I have a bunch of albums from paper scrapping that are not going to get filled otherwise. Oh Well! Donna_R
Thanks Laurel. I knew it would be something simple. I like the convienence of costco just so I could get my stuff in an hour while I was shopping. I just found Scrapbooks to Share and I've already sent a file to get a sample. I love having choices!!! ScrapBunny
Donna R, what is Scrapbooks to Share? Is it a website? If so, what is the url? Inquiring Bunnies want to know. Bunny
Laurel Lakey
It's a website, and you can find it here. They will let you upload a sample file, and for $5, will send you your layout printed on three of the different types of paper they use so that you can see which one you like best. I've had great experiences with them, contacting customer service and having fast responses from them. I would recommend them to anyone!

The first time I gave them a 12 x 12 file and it got cut off also, so the next time I designed a 12 x 18 paper, put the 12 x 12 at the bottom, and had 6" of white space at the top. When I gave it to them to print, it came out beautifully. I just cut the top 6" off. Cheap too - $2.99.

KimBe
I just used Costco for my 12x12's and had good luck with them. If you click on the "Square Sizes" link under the enlargements section in the online ordering system, it'll let you select a 12x12 size. I could be wrong but the way I understood it was that the one caveat to this is that your Costco has to accept 12x12's. I just got lucky because my Costco just added 12x12's to their onsite selection so the timing worked out. If you tell them you need it, they may add it to their selection. I talked to their photo manager about it and it seemed to be a new item so maybe it's heading your way soon...Kim p.s...I got lustre and the quality was good. mwbbas
I've actually had several LO's printed at Costco. I have printed on 12X18. I just told them person not to stretch it and they can make sure the image is only 12x12. Also, he filled me in on a cheaper way to do it. You can fit 3 layouts side by side on a 12X36 image (you have to do this at home by opening a 12 x 36 image and then copy each 12x12 onto that image). The quality has been great and I haven't had any problems. Sometimes there is confusion as to the price, but I get them at 2.99 for the 12x36. Some Costco's say it's 4.99, but still cheaper than 3 images on the 12 x 18. You do need to cut them at home, so they are a little awkward to carry home with a full cart, but that what kids are for, right?? LOL. Hope that helps. Have a great day! koshka56
Just a word of caution. Do a few samples with Costco before running a lot of pages. Our local Costco printing facility (based out of MD) does an absolute horrible job. My last 2 batchs came out in different shades & the end product was almost useless. The layouts were not a big deal.. just a copy of my DD birthday party (for my DD to keep) so my expectations were honestly not high for the price.. but I would seriously have expected something better than what I received. If the printing was for my own albums I would have asked for my money back. I am now converted over to Scrapbooks to Share. Price is higher, but so is the quality. canela
I use costco and have had great results. I just picked up three pages today that were printed on 12x12. I used to do the 12x18 but the costco here in Austin just added the square sizes so I am really excited. I highly recommend to download their printed profiles. I convert my print jpeg file to their profile before saving it. Then I turn off the auto correct option when I order my prints. The quality is really great - I am very pleased. Good luck. PBarnes
Are the Costco prints printed 12x12 to the edge? We have a Costco going in here. It may be a year before they are open though.
canela
Yes, Pat, the prints are all the way to the edge. I just showed them to my dh and he was very impressed and he is an artist so he is very much into details of contrast and shadows - so I think that says something. But like I said before the printer profiles are a must otherwise you won't be satisfied.

Can you tell me how that works? Do you somehow save the profile to the jpg? I've actually had good luck with my Costco. There's an option that says for them NOT to alter the color on the images if you select it (under Print options maybe?). I always select that and so far, so good...KimBe p.s...what's a DH? I keep seeing it everywhere on the threads (pardon the newbie question).

Laurel Lakey
Donna, I think they're only offering it in some locations, so depending on where you are, you may or may not be able to get it.
partidogs
My local Costco just started doing 12 X 12 2 weeks ago. pton
Costco prints 12x12 and 8x8 WITHOUT having to resize now. As Laurel described above, you used to have to open a 12x18 and then drag your 12x12 document into it. If you print 12x12 as a 12x18 without doing this, your picture will be cut off or stretched. You may still want to do 12x18 if you want to print one 12x12 and 2 6x6. This is great for one 12x12 for you and one 6x6 for each grandma, and it saves money!! But in any case, Costco does offer 12x12 and 8x8. This saves sooo much time!! It is 2.99 for the 12x12 (same as 12x18) and 1.49 I believe for the 8x8 or maybe it's 1.99, whatever the price normally is for 8x10. When you order, click on the square sizes link, below enlargements and select your size. I have been VERY happy with my prints at the local Costco. I have heard that some locations do not print as well for some reason. I ordered 40 12x12s just the other day and it was ready in about 3 hours and the prints came out like they look on the computer. Donna_R
Unfortunately, my Costco can't do 12x12's in the store. I tried to do a 12x18, but their software kept cropping my pic to fit a rectangular crop. I finally did find out how to do the 12x12's using Costco.com and just got my pics today. Other than being a little dark, I was really pleased with them. Hurray! I can finally get my pages printed and into albums.

Yeah, for the 12x12, if they do not print it, you have to make a 12x18 and then drag your 12x12 and print it as a 12x18. phew. But it's the same price...just a little extra work. You can order the 12x12s online and pay for shipping. This works if you have a TON of layouts to print. If you are like me, I wait until I have at least 20 then order it. Fortunately, my local Costco recently started printing 12x12s. By the way, different Costcos print differently. Luckily for me, I can think of at least 4 Costcos within a 20 minute drive. Queenjj2
Anyone out there know of any Canadian Places that print good 12x12's? I'm just new to digi-scrapping but looking forward to seeing some of my LO's on paper! I've check my local Sam's Club (like Cosco) but they don't seem to offer it online anyways...I have read about Scrapbook to Share and would be willing to pay the extra shipping, but sometimes custom's adds 30% as it comes over the border, that makes the price a little steep... Thoughts? Tks! Jamie
sheriL
I'm in Alberta, so I can't say for sure what you can get over there, but I can print 12*36 at Costco here. Last I checked (about 2 months ago), I had to take a cd in with my file because they wouldn't accept uploads that big over the internet. I believe the price was just under $8 for prints ready in 2 days, a little more for 1 hour service.

LissaD
If your Costco only does 12x18, don't waste that extra space that you pay for, put two 6x6 layouts on the bottom for a smaller album or copies of the same layout for grandparents, or gift albums! Set up a new document that is 12 x 18 inches. Place the 12 x 12 at the top then the two smaller 6x6's at the bottom side by side. Then you can get a bonus of the smaller prints for the same price.
