wamsmith
Hi, I am totally new to this and thanks to Ro's tutorials I've scrapped a few pages using PSE 5. Here is my question (and I apologize if it is a silly one, but I can't seem to find the answer)....When I am building a page, I like to have my "Scrapbooking Folder" open so I can quickly see what embellishments etc. that I have. I noticed I can click and drag the picture from my "Scapbooking Folder" that is located in my "My Documents" folder to my PSE program where I am making my page. Is this okay? Does it transfer the file in its full quality or do I need to use the "open" file in PSE. I hope this makes sense. I just don't want the image quality to be messed up by importing it wrong. Thanks, Megan
Meisie
I do that all the time Megan, and it works just fine...at least I've not noticed any problems with it
kerryveale
Wow! I've never tried that before. I'll have to see if it works in Photoshop CS2.
Laurel Lakey
I do that all the time, as well and it is just another way to open the file. No worries about quality or anything like that.

ScrappingForever
Yep, I do it that way, too. I drag everything in there like that, background papers, embellishments, photos, everything.
jonjonsmom
I do it that way too. It makes it easier so then I can just pick and choose what I want when I want it.
Jennifer in NC
I'll have to try this - it would be much easier than the <open file> that I've been using!

Guest ChristineS
another way to do it is file -> place (it's about half way down the menu) and then it imports directly to the page with the name of the item included in your layers palette you can immediately move it around to where you want AND there's nothing to close later on~! scrappylibrarian
That is what I usually do. It is just much easier to manuever my stuff I think.

Karooch
Hey Megan thanks for the tip. I usually use Picasa to view my files before opening but I think I might try your method and see how it goes. It sounds a lot easier.
cjrees
another way to do it isfile -> place (it's about half way down the menu) and then it imports directly to the page with the name of the item included in your layers palette you can immediately move it around to where you want AND there's nothing to close later on~! Another newbie here. I did file > place and it works but I don't like not being able to see everything (I can only see the file if I select it). So I tried draging the file in but it just "bounces" back to the original file location. What do I need to do to make it stay?
Guest ChristineS
you do have to place it into a canvas if you are using that command (so in another words you have to start with a new document, say 12x12 and 300 dpi and then place) alternatively, if you are in PSE and are trying to drag into a layout, you have to drag click on it in the photo bin so it shows in your workspace and then drag it down onto the thumbnail of your layout in the photo bin (kind of opposite of how you think it might work!!)
