TracEy
Just out of curiosity, I dont see a section on this, but before discontinuing items from the boutique (if they do, I havent been here long enough to know if they do or not), do they ever go into a clearance section of the boutique? It would be nice to know what items are being discontinued and giving us that last chance to purchase.
jonjonsmom
That would be nice. I'm all for anything at a discount. Especially the cool stuff here
brandiev
Hi Tracy! We don't have a clearance section at Scrap Girls -- and only a very small percentage of Scrap Girls products ever actually get discontinued. Many times stores (both online and in real life) have clearances to make room for new stuff...luckily designer's at SG don't have to worry about that. Now, specials (freebies) are a different sort of deal -- they are always offered a few days and then they are gone -- but sometimes offered in one of our grab bags. jackson5
I have noticed that quite often Ro offers a discount on purchases, that's kinda like getting everything you buy on clearance! Glad to hear that ScrapGirls doesn't discontinue things very often!
ScrapGirlsRo
Yes, we don't do that here. One of the reasons the other sites do it is because the designers are only allowed so much server space. We don't limit our designers and have, instead, just grown our server space. We do that because we want to have the ability to send our customers their downloads should they lose their hard drives (or have some other disaster). Does it cost us money? You bet it does. But our customers are that important to us. The products that get discontinued are mainly products that are past their prime and are things we think need to move on to "the digital scrapbooking happy hunting ground". We see no reason to focus on those things and prefer to show our customers our new designs and the products that continue to sell well because they are things that scrapbookers need and love. Make sense?
TracEy
Absolutely. Thanks for letting me know. It all makes perfect sence. I was just curious. {{smile}}

April Showers
It might be nice to get a little warning if for some reason a designer is leaving so we could snatch up their stuff before it vanishes.
ScrapGirlsRo
Scrap Girls has almost never had a designer leave. It is an extremely rare occasion when it has happened. When it has happened, we don't have any "warning" time. There is usually something in their life that requires it and so we just let them leave with a nice virtual handshake and best wishes. We don't have contracts with our designers that hold them here like many other sites do. Our designers stay with us because we take care of them so well and we have a great family-type feeling going on.

RO! plus we get sales more often than not so we can all go shopping until we are dropping and then some more just to make sure we've got everything... and speaking as one of Ro's team members in the Layout Team, this is where I plan to stay, to promote, to assist, and to enjoy making SG the best site ever 'cos there certainly ain't any like it anywhere else. Becca
I knew there wasn't a "Clearance" section to the boutique, but I never knew the rest of this info. Thanks for sharing these little tidbits about Scrap Girls, Ro. It's this behind-the-scenes stuff that the average member doesn't see that makes SG come out on top once again!
