Has anyone done a scrap wall? I've done a few *layouts for the wall*, but I haven't attempted this yet. How big does the wall have to be? What do you put on it? Anyone done this yet?

This is such a neat idea! Would you frame the layouts?

That's the beauty of it! You can frame the layouts... or not! My hubby owns an ad agency, so he uses a lot of foam core. I think I'm going to use that. No frames.. just decorate and build the photo up.. .bring them out from the wall sort of thing. Not sure yet. Just trying to formulate it.

let us know when you have it up so we can be inspired too! never thought about foam core but that would look sharp, wouldn't it? Isn't that how galleries display them?

I think my dear hubby thought I was crazy for hanging lots of layouts up until I had one whole wall covered. Unfortunately I didn't take any pics of it like I should have before we took them all down. I'm positive I'll do it again very soon, as soon as I find out which boxes my scrapbooking stuff is in. Bad idea to have surgery just before moving let me tell you. My dear hubby doesn't believe in marking boxes and such when you move. He seems to enjoy the thought of being suprised every time he opens a box. He also says to put here that it's just like Christmas all over again. LOL! Too bad the children aren't thinking the same thing. Anyhow, there I go a bit off topic again as usual. But anyhow, back to the topic. When I hung my layouts and covered the wall with them, It was actually a lot of fun and made some great coversation when we had company. I know I'll be doing it again because as soon as I find them boxes, I've found the perfect place here where we've just moved to. I plan on doing LO's on one side of the wall, and misc. photos on the other side, all unframed of course. I did add contact paper over the paint with thumbtacks before I put the layouts up so when I used the dots to adhere the pages to the wall they would come off easier than if I had just put them right on the paint. My dear mother inlaw has some adorable pics of my dear hubby when he was younger as well as his military photos, so I can't wait to get those on there too. It's actually kind of neat to do. I'd use a soft feather duster and kind of dust the pages carefully to try and keep them clean, or you could do as I did and also put them in page protectors before you hang them and then just overlap the pages where the holes show of the page protectors. I'm not sure when I'll find the right boxes, but I will try and find them and get them back up and take photos this time for sure. As much as I love taking photos, I could really kick myself for not taking pics the first time round. :hit-head-with-hammer:

That would be such a neat wall to have. Must try to figure out something for our house on a smaller scale (since I'm sure we have a smaller house!)

I've not redone it yet, so much has been going on over the past months that I've not really had the time to. With the kids back in school and dh amidst drywalling I was considering just painting a mural instead, but still missing my layouts being right there in front of me in plain view., so may redo it still but just not sure when.

Here is an idea for a 'scrap wall' - I haven't added any LO's to mine yet, but plan too!! The clips make it very easy/quick to change things out! You know how fast a four year old can fill this with her artwork? She now knows what comes down, goes in the garbage!!

Bead Detail

If anyone is interested, I can give more details on where to find materials to do this yourself. It is very simple and could be modified in many ways. My friend is going to do on in her son's room, but find beads that are sports balls and boy type things.

Blessings!

Christy,
that's very cute. My Grandkids love painting, coloring and all. I could give each their own beaded hanger.

Thanks
