That is great, Cathy! I wish I were near so I could be your buddy...wouldn't that be fun?!?! But, this works OK for me. (Internet workouts, that is...). I'm glad to hear of all your successes via web!

On top of this workout, DH and I are going ice skating this afternoon. It will be his first time on skates in 40 years! I've been skating with the girls and I haven't fallen yet, which is pretty good for 25 years of not skating. I just figured out how to skate backwards so my goal today is to quick switch from forward to backwards, unless of course, Steve drags me down...literally!! LOL!! Wish us luck!

I've ridden the stationary bike everyday but yesterday and today I did it with a shoe on and not the boot and that tires my foot and leg faster. I think I'm going to do the chair aerobics video today too. I'll weigh myself tomorrow morning.

Theresa, be careful with your skating. Don't want you to break anything!

Hey, that sounds GREAT Pat! Keep it up! I can't wait to hear what the scale says for you...

Well, we are now skating three times a week. I haven't hurt myself yet...maybe just a few stiff muscles here and there. I worry more about Steve, although he is improving. It is a really gratifying sport. Who knew?

Still walking daily, and the chilly basement helps me walk just that much speedier. I'm feeling good despite recovering from the worst period I had in months. Still a bit bloated, but much better. My water intake still needs help, but I am doing better, day by day.

I've been snacking less but partaking in holiday treats that have been sent to my home from relatives. Good thing for me that Steve is eating MORE than I but bad for him, because he just can't help himself. I'd like to hide them until the kids get home from college, then he'd have a fighting chance...maybe I'll do that today while he is on a field trip with the girls...I'm excited that he is doing that anyway....maybe I can get some quality work done today for ScrapGirls. I've got alot on my plate and I need to tackle it all before Wednesday. Oh my, that is tomorrow! Better get cracking!

How is everyone? Gosh it is quiet! I want to hear from you!

Oh, and I found that Fit for Life book in DH's bookshelf. I'm going to check it out tonght!

SAY HI EVERYONE!!

Not long ago I weighed far more than I ever did before in my life. I have since lost over 50 pounds and am very happy with myself and the progress I've made. Eating right and exercising does pay off. I may not have made many posts here over the last few months, but reading this thread has helped me to keep my end goal in sight. I love you all and wanted to say that if I can acheive the goal I set for myself, I'm sure you all can too. I didn't always feel like exercising, believe me when I say that, but knowing you were all here helped me to keep myself in motion. Hugs to you all!!! :)

That is awesome Valerie!!! It's nice to hear from you...so glad to hear about your progress! Don't you just wish you could bottle that feeling of fitting into a size __, or when you get a compliment from someone who hasn't seen you in a while...sure would make those days that you don't feel like exercising a bit easier, eh?

I am hanging in there...the exercise isn't a problem, but the diet has been a struggle. I has been slacking the past week or so...not drinking my water, eating out a bit too much...etc. I have to get back on the wagon NOW before I get knee deep in all the holiday junkies! I made a healthy breakfast this morning and have a salad for lunch and have my first bottle of water filled and ready at my desk...

The holiday goodies, now that's where I may run into some trouble because you see, I'm an addict, chocolate or fudge of any kind just screams out my name, ;). If only there was a way to make it all fat free then I'd really be lost. LOL!

Way to go Val! It's always good to hear joyous news!

All is well here. I worked out Monday and Tuesday. Monday I walked and yesterday I did some weights. I also added some lower body exercises. And sad to say, I hurt today! Everytime time I sit down and get up I can feel me legs! I know that's good; I just can't beleive how little I did yesterday and still hurt. I am going to continue to do the lower body exercises. And when DH gets home, we are headed to the gym.

Also, I learned that my gym gives three free visits with a trainer. I am going to take them up on it! At the new year, I am going to make an appointment and see what type of work out they would give me. I'm excited! It'll give me something to look forward to after the holidays!

As to weight, I weighed in on Monday and gained two pounds! So sad! But at least now I know and I can cut down on the sweets. I have to say that will be hard! My birthday is today and we are celebrating my sister's bday this weekend. If I do have a dessert, I won't eat the whole thing...just two bites! I won't feel too bad about that.

Keep up the good work, ladies!

Hope you had a fun day Giggster!
I happily updated my ticker today. While I haven't been well enough to get to the gym, (I have bronchitis and an upper respiratory infection) I haven't felt like eating anything either.

Thanks for all the well wishes! Y'all are the best! Despite good planning, I still ate too much for dinner last night. However, I did not eat the entire dessert. Mostly because it was very interesting! We went to a Hibachi grill for dinner. The dessert was fried green tea ice cream. My husband took one bite and then shoved the bowl towards me saying, "It's all yours!" I had a few bites, but green tea ice cream is a little odd. I most enjoyed the whipped cream on top! :)

But before dinner, we did go by our gym and I got to walk. Burned 200 calories! Yeah me! I'm going to try and push myself harder during my walks so that I burn more calories while walking. My next goal is 225 calories in 35 minutes. I can do it! Today, I plan to clean the bathroom and vacuum (not fun, but it does burn calories). Afterwards, I'm brining out my pilates DVD and giving that a try. I haven't done it in ages...I have a feeling I'm in for a tough workout!

Y'all have a wonderful day!!!

Hey girls! It is the last full week before Christmas. Let's give it our all to be good and get those workouts in so that we can take a few days off next week. I know Steve and I will be very busy this week, and we will do some extra ice skating with the girls. Plus, the temperature here might actually get above freezing this week! That always makes it easier to get out of the house.

I'm looking so forward to the holidays. It appears as of today that I will FOR ONCE, have all my children with me. Their mother is going out of town for Christmas this year and instead of having to have the kids rush off to their mom's, we will have them for the full two days! I'm excited, mostly for my girls who never get to spend enough time with their older siblings.

So, I'm going to keep you all motivated this week to get those workouts in. This way you can enjoy a few days next week to have fun and relax!

Lets hear from you, ok??

I'm keeping up with riding the stationery bike. I don't seem to be able to do much more than 30 minutes because the seat is so uncomfortable. I'm going to see if the tie on cover I have on my regular bike will fit on it. DH and I have fallen into a pretty regular routine of exercising at the same time in the mornings - he on the treadmill, me on the bike. It's kind of fun to spend the time together. I've never be able to keep up with him walking even when my feet were good so this works well.

I'm holding the line on the scale at this point which is about the best I can expect to do. Friday is going to be difficult. I've been invited to my previous place of employment for the potluck lunch. I'll try to be good. :)

I decided to enjoy the warm day we were having and took a walk around my neigborhood today. It was beautiful outside and I probably walked two miles. On the food side, I feel like I've done well. This week I am trying to watch what I eat, lots of fruit, vegies, and salads for me. I'm at home and not going out so I'm doing pretty good. Next week, may be a different story, but my goal is to stick to one portion per meal! Enjoy the holidays, ladies!

Hey everyone!

Sounds like everyone is knee deep in holiday preparations, but doing a good job with the exercise! Still walking with my new buddy almost every day for 45 minutes to an hour. Last week we walked twice a day on several days. And, of course, lots of shopping at the malls. Not been doing very good with my portion sizes and water though so I'm up and down a bit on the scale, but holding pretty stead overall.

Counting down to the cruise!......and Christmas, of course!

Have a great weekend everyone!

Cathy

I haven't been feeling all that well so my exercise has dropped off though I'm holding steady with my weight. I hope to start the exercise again yet this week and to continue through the holidays. I have yet to do any baking but that works for me. If it's not sitting here, I can't eat it, right? LOL I will bake a couple things yet because it wouldn't be Christmas without a little shortbread and maybe a couple other things but they will be small batches and will soon be gone again, I'm sure.

Have a great Christmas, everyone!

Went to the Dr. today. Hoping the prednisone (a short course) makes it so my lungs will be happy through my work outs. Bad time to be out, but according to his scale I'd lost 10 pounds since my last visit before Thanksgiving. Got my blood work results too and I'm totally baffled. Shows I've got a hyperthyroid and I have mostly symptoms of a hypothyroid. So, off for more testing tomorrow. :)

Hi girls! So good to see you all here and checking in. I have been struggling with some form of stomach virus. This morning is the first this week where I actually feel somewhat better. I had to ditch skating Monday but we went yesterday. It is an energy zapper and it makes me very thirsty so I've been drinking lots of water...haven't been able to keep too much food down earlier this week, but I had a big lunch yesterday. So I think I'm on my way out of it.

April, I hope all your tests are negative...sometimes they just get a foul reading. It is good you are having them done again. Dee, hope you are feeling better too! I just hate being sick.

OK, girls, weekend is almost here. Let's get two more good workouts in at least, this week!

I went walking today. First time out in two weeks! (for a work out that is.) Don't want to be that sick again.
