I had a bad time with vertigo this last month. I think there is some sort of virus going around because my hubby and daughter and extended family had it too. It's really awful! I hope you get over it soon Theresa!

I walked for about 45 minutes today pushing my son in the stroller. It was a good work out!

I did 10 miles in 50 minutes on my bike today. It had been overcast and cool all morning but I had to get my oil changed in my car so couldn't get out until after lunch. Of course the sun came out just as I started out. Had a head wind coming back. Argghhh. I got really sweaty and tired. :)

Great start, Cathy! We may be getting a do this weekend, I'm keeping my fingers crossed because I already fell in love with him. But I hope to take him for lots of long walks this fall!

I ran on Tuesday and today. I didn't sleep well, but made myself run any way, and the time went by fast. I hope to get my run in earlier in the morning now that I'm up and ready earlier to get the Lauren off to school.

Now, just to control my snacking, again....

I've been having a bit of a rough time with my health lately. I've been big since I had my daughter. I didn't eat well and I gained a whopping 60 or so pounds. I lost some but not near enough and when I was expecting my son, I only gained 23lbs which I promptly lost. However, 10 years ago my husband had a work injury that left him disabled due to chronic pain (nearly invisible to most people but very real in our lives) and his active lifestyle was lost. Since then I gained quite a bit again. In the past 2 years I lost 20lbs - not that much but something.

I have a hard time sticking with both exercising AND watching my eating habits. I'm trying like crazy to exercise 4 hours a week and I'm getting there the past few weeks, finally. But so far, no change on the scale. It's discouraging. I only weigh once a month because I have a lot of fluid retention issues that fluctuate monthly and it was getting me down to see the scale go up and down like a yo-yo. Snacking is my nemesis! LOL

Anyway, I just thought I'd join the rest of you and see if it will help me keep going and prevent me from giving up. I have almost 100lbs to lose yet.

Dee! Welcome! So great to have you join us. We try to check in a few times a week just so we all know what you are up to....just try to get in some type of exercise...just walking around the block a few times a day will suffice...let us know how you are doing! We aren't here to chastize you, just to give you some encouragement!! ok?

OK! It is FRIDAY! I'm thrilled. I want to do some scrapping this weekend. My parents are coming Wednesday, and the house is as clean as it is going to get, so I'm ready to scrap. Today I feel really good. My head is clear again and the exercise is really helping my mood. I'm back to 30 minutes on that killer stair stepper and 20 on the treadmill...Just some crunches too, as time is short with the girls getting up for school. I may hand that task off to DH so I can finish that up.

Anyone have exciting plans this weekend? Want to share? Anyone plan to exercise? I take weekends off, although sometimes I really want to get on this treadmill...maybe one weekend day I will!

Cathy! Great to have you back. I'm so sorry to hear of your circumstances. YOU are in my prayers as is your family...what a tough thing to go through. (((((hugs)))))

I took a short walk yesterday, just to the school and back, but it was a bit of exercise none the less. Today I walked for 30 minutes this morning. I plan to walk more once I'm completely over this intestinal thing. I just don't want to over do it while I'm still on the mend.

This weekend we need to do some major yard work. Our back yard is looking pretty shabby so we need to get on that. Hopefully the lawn will have time to dry out so we can mow it. It just keeps raining, which is good, but not when the lawn needs mowed.

I did an hour on the elliptical this morning. Going to try to do a bit more house work and maybe a little less time on the boards. *gasp* may be hard, but I'm going to give it a go. :)

Thanks. I feel funny posting much because my ordered program hasn't arrived yet and I have no layouts to share... LOL Anyway, as I said, I've been trying to do a minimum of 4 hours of exercise a week. I have a hard time getting off my chair to do much most days. (My ankles seem to give me a lot of trouble these days.) Each week tends to be a little different. I guess I haven't found my groove yet. I tried averaging how much exercise I need to do daily while taking Sundays off and that wasn't bad except that some days just got too busy and I ended up missing a couple days a week so I thought I'd try allowing myself a couple days off in addition to Sunday. That works better except that I find myself in pain before I get to the end of my workout. I'm only doing cardio at this point but I'd like to add in some light weights eventually. Oh, and for the most part, my exercise is on the gazelle because I can still be with my family. :) Today I'm "scheduled" to do an hour in two 1/2 hour bites. I hope I can get it done before our appraisal time.

We're having our home appraised so we can do some renovations soon. We need a proper kitchen (instead of one that is falling apart) and a bathroom equipped for my husband's needs. Tomorrow we have a kick-off bbq for our homeschool group and Sunday my daughter and I are singing on the worship team at church followed by a CFL game with our favourite team. (We watch on tv whenever possible.) It's going to be a busy weekend for me, I think.

Oh, yeah... I added signature stuff last night when I couldn't sleep... so now you all know my overall goal. It feels pretty daunting!

Hi everyone,
I thought I'd join the group. I'm losing my weight with record speed 23 pounds in 9 weeks, but I 've fallen off on my walking. I was up to 2 miles a day (not bad for 2 failed back surgeries)
I really need to get back at it, to tone all these flabby muscles

I would love you to hold me accountable for my daily walk. I usually walk in the early morning... it really looks like a great group, you all seem so comitted to it.. MaryJo
23 down and 42 to go !!!!

Welcome Mary Jo! We're all here for you & as I posted last week, how often I check in seems to have a direct link to my accountability so these girls definately help keep you on track!
Well this week I was lazy again...I did work out but only once. :( The good news is I did stay pretty on track with my eating, so all wasn't lost. Today's plan is to clean, clean, clean until the baby wakes up from her second nap, then we're off for a long walk to play at the park. Can't wait...its so beautiful outside today I just want to get out of the house! Then the plan is to fit in a pilates workout after the walk...we'll see how the baby wants to cooperate with that. Will check back in later tonight & let you know how the plan went...
Have a great Saturday everyone!!

Welcome Dee and Mary Jo! Dee, I so understand the frustration. I feel that I'm controlling my eating quite well, exercising at least 4 hours a week, and my scale isn't moving - except up and down, up and down about 2 lbs! So I am with you. This forum is a great place to get encouragement and incentive.

As soon as I can tear myself away from Scrap Girls, I'm going out for a ride. Its a beautiful day but it may be too breezy to go too far. There is an art show at a nearby outdoor mall and I'd like to go see it but only if I don't have to park too far away because my feet are not doing well the last few days.

The scale is the most frustrating part of this whole weight-loss thing, isn't it? I missed my exercise yesterday because of a last minute meeting I had to attend last night and it looks like today may end up as a write-off, too. :( However, there will be another day... and who knows? I may actually find the time yet today in spite of the already planned activities for the rest of the day. I do find that evening works well for me sometimes so we'll see. ;) Anyway, I'm encouraged to know that I'm not the only person who has an uncooperative scale. Hopefully that will be changing very soon for BOTH of us!

Just got back from a 10 mile bike ride. Beautiful day. My gears are acting up even after dh working on them. Hope they hold together for a few more weeks.

Great going on a 10 mile bike ride. I think I would drop after 1 mile. I have mentioned to get some exercise in this week, even though it was a rough week. I stuck to my diet though, so I think that helped in my losing a pound this week.

Hey everyone,

Hope you are having a great weekend! I walked our border collie, Daisy, again yesterday and today. My husband decided to go with us this morning and we walked twice as far as I've been doing this week. Daisy is becoming an accountability partner herself! Every morning she looks out the window and sees other dogs being walked and then she won't leave me alone! LOL!

I know what you all mean about the scales! I did get a ticker added to my sig and also journaled some on fitday.com

Does anyone here watch Biggest Loser? My dds Stace and Linds have used this as a great motivational tool. The stories are awesome.....Anyway, just thought I would mention that I think a new season starts this week.

I have used fitday in the past but not recently. I should probably get back to that at some point. I haven't watched Biggest Loser - not a lot of time for tv these days but I've heard some good things about it. :)

As I expected, I didn't get exercise in yesterday or the day before but I think I might get on the gazelle during the game today. Distraction from the effort of the gazelle, exercising while I watch football, ... Yeah maybe that would be a good thing. LOL

Dee,

Know what you mean about something to distract you......the time always passes faster if you can watch TV or listen to music. I moved my exercise bike into the family room and plan to add that to my workout tomorrow.

Happy pedaling!

Last week I didn't have time to exercise with ds's b-day party to prepare but at least I didn't gain weight. I am planning to get back on my elliptical machine each morning before getting ready for work. I'll check in this next week and let you all know how it goes.

Hey girls! The scale is the same for me...no budge...I feel like I'm at such a brick wall...but the cooler weather will really help me. And it is getting cooler here. I'm still at 30 min on the stair stepper and 20 on the treadmill. I'd like to increase that. I might get started when DH is down here. He only uses the treadmill so I can step while he is walking. Then I can do some more.

My parents arrive Wednesday. That is good because I'll get out of the house with my mom. We plan to do some furniture shopping. I need a new bedroom set desperatley. Then this weekend is the big Czech festival in New Prague. We go every year and this year my Slovak father will be here! He should really enjoy it...plus my Polish mom...they will be polkaing I'm sure!

So, alot going on but I will be here every morning this week regardless. Let's keep it moving!!

Hey Mary Jo! Glad you joined it! And Dee, don't let your numbers get you down. Once you see some progress there will be no where else to look!! I''m so glad you are here!

Let's rock!!

Good Morning, Everyone!

It's been a while for me . . . but I'm still sticking with the exercising. As I suspected, it's tougher now that I'm back at school every day, so I'm doing everything I can. Apparently, my inherent absent-mindedness is a plus now. My office is downstairs and my classroom upstairs. Therefore, every time I forget to bring a stack of papers from my office to class, I have to make a round trip down and back up. I can't do much about where I park as we have assigned parking spaces, with the teachers' closest to the doors.

Over Labor Day, the family headed up to NC, where we did some hiking (YAY!). Since our return, DH and I are back to our Wednesday, Saturday, Sunday lap-swimming. I'm hoping that this week I can begin to add in some exercise DVD's on the days that we don't swim.

My weight is holding steady, so overall, I'm pleased with myself.

No movement on the scale for me yet, Theresa and Dee, but I'm sure it's a little early to be hoping for that! I can really tell that I feel so much better this morning after a day of rest on Friday and then daily walks over the past few days.

Glad you joined us, Paige! Those extra steps add up, especially if they are up and down stairs!

May all our steps work our bodies out today!

Today I went on a walk for an hour with my neighbors. I usually only like to walk about 30 mins right now because I don't want to over do it, and make myself fall back into being sick again. Today we just kept on chatting and walking and now I'm pretty tired.

LOL Thanks, Theresa! I'm hanging in there. Yesterday I did my hour on the gazelle during the football game (very sad game so I'm not sure if the distraction was from the exercise or the game!) and then today I went to the pool with my husband and son. I am not a big swimmer but I made sure that I did some actual swimming in my own strange sort of way :giggle_bear: and also kept moving when I wasn't swimming by treading water. I was really quite encouraged. I haven't been to the pool since the middle or end of June and when I put on my swimsuit, I noticed a real difference in how it felt and how it looked. My husband even noticed! It was a great feeling. I usually get lazy as the weather cools off but I've just got to keep on going!

That is so great, Dee! You know, my girls take swimming lessons and I just found out that because of that I can go use the pool during the week for lap swimming between 12pm and 1pm. I might just take advantage of that after my parents leave next week. Swimming is outstanding cardiovascular exercise.

Mom and dad arrive tomorrow. I'm so excited because they just announced they want to take my sisters and I and our families on a 7 day cruise next summer for their 50th wedding celebration! Oh, I can smell the ocean breezes already!!! YAY!!!

OK, I'm done stepping and walking, now some crunches and then off to get my day moving! Have a great one, all you lovely ladies!!

Yesterday I took the dog for a brief walk, and then I added some time on the exercise bike. Didn't last very long, but it is a start!

And guess what, I got to move my ticker this morning! Yeah!

That is so exciting about your cruise, Theresa! And your parents want to do that for the whole family? That is so awesome!

Have a great day everyone!

I'm excited b/c my sister sent me a surprise gift, an electronic stepper! It's really compact and I think it will be a great addition to my exercise routine!

Walked the block again today and did the stepper for just a few! Wheeww, going to have to work up on that one!

And I'm cleaning house today: vacuum, mop, windows! uuummmmm, seems like I have more energy since I started walking! Doesn't take a rocket scientist to figure out why, does it??!!!!

I Did catch Biggest Loser open last night, and picked up this tidbit from the discussions about diet.

Protein+carb+fat at every meal and snack for high energy and faster metabolism...Think I'll post that on my fridge!

I didn't get out at all yesterday. Spent most of the day on Scrap Girls and scrapping. I headed out today for a bike ride and found that my rear brakes weren't working so I turned around and headed back to the car. Grrr. It was a beautiful day too. DH fixed the brakes so hopefully I can get out tomorrow. It's supposed to be pretty cold Friday so I'm not sure about that day. I am back down the 2 lbs I was up earlier this week.
