wellllllll......I haven't done my pilates in about a week. I was having back problems from painting furniture. So, that put a damper on my workout. Today, I'm watching a friend's son. So, I'll have (2) three year olds and one 2 year old. I think that will be my workout today! LOL After he leaves this afternoon, my son will be napping so I'll do my bun/thigh workout then. It's amazing how you feel different when you aren't working out! I feel like such a bum right now with no energy.

You know, it is not always easy to get that workout in. Life gets in the way, afterall. We are not here to push you to kill yourself, just a workout everyother day or every third day. Don't worry if it takes you a week to get on the ball. Live in the moment. Work out when you can...work out when you are angry, work out the next time you turn Oprah on...whatever. 15 minutes...get your heart rate up, work up a sweat. Your life will change for the better, just for that 15 minutes!!

Other things you can do.

1. Park in the last spot at the supermarket and hoof it.
2. Speed walk at your local mall.
3. Start in the middle of the supermarket and when you reach the end, go back to the beginning...that is an extra half mile or so.
4. Do crunches while watching your favorite TV show.
5. While the kids are playing at the park, do some jumping jacks...bring a jump rope or basketball and play some hoops!
6. Turn on some dance tunes with your kids and turn the living room into a dance hall!

Just keep moving!! You will be so much happier with yourself, and you will sleep better at night!

I need to get me one of those tickers!

Gosh, typing and walking on the treadmill at the same time is super challenging. Getting a cramp in my hand. Got to run!!

OH! And I did my two bottles of water yesterday! Time to repeat it! My goal is to pee 10 times a day! ROTFLOL!!

Theresa

Only 10 times???? LOL After having kids and then my hysterectomy, my bladder doesn't work as a holding tank anymore. I used to laugh at my mom because she would have to stop every 20 miles for a potty break when we went on road trips...makes for a long trip to Florida! Now, I can sympathize with her!

Girls-I'm jumping in on this thread as well as I've got bunches of weight to lose and I'd be happy to be 15 lbs lighter by Labour Day too. You girls are so motivating! I love it!
I've just started counting carbs and I think its working. I was sooo stuck at such a horrible number for so long, and nothing seemed to move me off it...but I'm down 2 lbs already and now have an optomistic attitude about this life style change. I have my usual weight-training appt. this afternoon with my personal trainer (needed to get one for my rheumatoid arthritis condition) and I'll see if he notices....he notices everything -he's worse than my DH. I'll make sure I go for a long walk with my darling puppy after dinner and hope I have enuff energy left to download my latest Boutique items after that! :situps:

That's one thing those "darling puppies" are good for--regular walks. Since I increased the length of the walk, my Amber gets as excited by the word "walk" as she does for "car." ANd I swear she has an internal alarm clock. If I am not off my butt at 7:30 every evening (we take our longest walk in the evening), she starts whining. I am not sure what I am going to do when the Minnesota winter returns! LOL

Down a pound today, but I won't get excited until I see it's permanent. Moday's are my official day; it keeps me honest on the weekends.

I did 6.6 miles in 37 min. this morning on the real bike. It was a gorgeous morning. Hope the scale is kind to me in the morning.

Lots of good ideas Theresa. Thanks for the reminders.

Welcome Debby! Dogs are great motivators. Last time we got a puppy, I managed to lose 55 lbs over about 8 months! No more puppies for me though. :(

Hey, that's another good reason to get a puppy! I miss my Toby so much, but I'm just not ready for another one yet.

Welcome, Debby!

I ran and walked on the treadmill this morning and then spent the afternoon shopping again. I weighed myself this morning and I'm down 3 more pounds, a total 14. I'm almost half way to my goal!!

DH and I tried to do our laps yesterday, but the typical Florida summer afternoon thunderboomer closed the pool. It was so late after getting back, fixing and eating dinner and then getting DS ready for bed that I didn't want to exercise. (If I exercise after 7:30 PM or so, I'm going to be awake all night!) However, today, I did a TurboJam abs workout and half of a cardio one. Then, just as I was ready to collapse, hubby dragged me out to the yard to pull weeds for 45 minutes. No, let me rephrase that---yank, tug, jerk, hack at weeds. Ever try to pull out blackberry vines? I'm sure that tomorrow my forearms will be sore, but we have swimming laps planned which I can do with sore forearms.

Then, the moment of truth---I have to buy a scale. I HATE those things and usually only get on one at the doctor's office.

Checking in quick to say I'm keeping up the pace, too. Still doing about 20 minutes on the elliptical daily, and I upped the level setting yesterday. My legs can certainly feel the difference, so let's hope it's a step in the right direction.

You know it's funny...this morning we had no coffee. And I find that if I don't drink coffee in the morning, I feel constantly hungry all day. Never thought coffee would be part of my diet regimen, but it's not something I'll be skipping often.

Just thought I would pass along something I've read and something I've experienced that y'all might not know . . .

Apparently, when we drink diet sodas, we are really sabotaging ourselves. According to researchers, the diet sodas still are feeding our sugar fix, making our bodies want sweets, so we end up eating more. Personally, I've found that when I drink diet sodas, I get hungrier faster than if I just drink water. So, I might not be getting the calories from the soda, but I get them from whatever I grab to make my stomach quit growling!

I've been working on just drinking water instead of the sodas I used to grab. It's tough since I don't like plain water, but I'm doing it.

Paige,

I'm going to add to your tidbit of advice about soda. I stopped drinking soda in mid-May sometime. No diet, no regular, no soda period. I drink mostly water these days, with a very occassional iced tea or wine cooler in the evening.

And let me tell you, it has made a huge difference in the way my skin looks and feels! I wasn't a huge soda drinker, maybe a can or two a day. But just that little bit was making me look older. This was one "side effect" of giving it up that I never expected! :)

Thanks for the "welcome" and lots of great motivation. I didn't get my walk in tonite with our puppy 'cause we had a huge storm go thru that left the most beautiful rainbow. However, my personal trainer did me in harder than any walk could do...I felt like a dish-rag when he finished with me today afer an hour of "extreme" weightlifting. He has this personal goal in mind: since I golf and because I have a professional golfer sister and 2 other professional golfers in the family -he wants me to be able to hit the ball further than my sister (who was on the LPGA) Ha! That'll be the day, howver, I am now hitting the ball further than when I was in my 30's so I guess something is working. This is from the guy that kept me from back surgery and the end of my golf-forever, so I have to give into his unreasonable expectations -at times! But I'm counting my carbs and today I got a BOX OF SEE'S CHOCOLATES from San Fran from a friend, and I'm dying to eat them all....help!

Hang in there Debby! A chocolate a day! That is fair. Don't sit down and eat that whole box at once, ok?

Soda is bad ju ju...glad to see you are all stepping away from it. There is no excuse to drink it anymore. There is so much more stuff out there these days that is much better for you to be drinking if you can't stand the tap water. I started brewing ice tea in the fridge, and who knew how refreshing unsweeted ice tea could be?!? I know now!!

You all seem to have the bug back...lots of re-motivation going on here! It is great to see!

I'm up early on the treadmill. I'm taking the girls to the zoo this morning, plus an extra little friend of theirs, so it will be a busy day. The weather is perfect for the zoo though, so I'm taking my camera. I could probably get out of the house myself anyway!

It is FRIDAY!!! YAY!!! A few days off from the workout. I'm ready! I feel like I had a great week. We will see what the scale says on Monday. I'm going to keep up with the water, mainly, and be really good with eating this weekend. Hmmmm. Maybe I'll sneak an hour on the treadmill too? I feel like I shoud.

OK, off to get me a ticker!! Fill me in girls!!

Ugh! I had this post all typed out and lost power just long enough to turn everything off. I hate that!

I'm happy to report that I haven't had Pepsi since June 17th. I've had a few diet sodas, but I prefer water. I drink Crystal Lite, too.

Mary, try crunches. There are different kinds to target different areas. They will build muscles, but you have to lose the fat, too, so that six pack can show.

I did some aerobics this morning, and I have a softball game tonight if it doesn't rain. I play in the outfield, so I run out to my position, just to get some added exercise in.

Have a great weekend!

Well, I've done my upper body weights once this week and walked three times this week. Yeah for me! And besides Monday when I snacked all day, I've done well eating. I'm back have a smoothie in the morning, a salad for lunch, more fruit for a snack, and fish or chicken with veggies for dinner. It's good to be home.

I got another 5 mile bike ride in this morning. 30 minutes worth. My legs were still kind of sore from the last two days rides and my crotch definitely was. :) Got on the scale this morning and I'm only down a 1/2 lb. for the week. Grrrr. Better than nothing I guess. Let's hope I don't blow that over the weekend!

I missed my workout this morning. :(

DH forgot to put the trash out, so I had to deal with that before swim lessons today. By the time, I was done it was too late to start my workout before my shower. But I was on my feet all morning long, so that counts for something, I guess.

Despite the migraine I woke up with this morning, I managed to get another TurboJam workout in today. And shocked my son when he bet me I couldn't pick him up any more. (He's had a growth spurt lately, so he has an overinflated sense of how big he really is!)

My migraine medicine has kicked in, I've worked out four of the last six days, and I've been drinking enough water to fill a kiddy pool every day. :going-crazy:

I got up early enough to get in a 7.6 mile bike ride (40 minutes) in before it got too hot and I got home and showered in time to make it to church! I managed a ride 4 out of the last 5 days. Hope it begins to show up on the scale soon. I'm gong to have to do morning rides all this week since temps will be in the 90s. I was happy to find that the underpass that has been closed for weeks was finally open today. Its goes under a pretty busy street where they had been reconstructing the bridge and I'm really glad to not have to dodge 5 lanes of traffic anymore.

Well, a new week has begun! I got up this morning and went on my three mile hike. Yeah me! My plan is to work out two more times before I head back to TX at the end of the weekend. This weekend DH and I are helping my sister move into our house. I might not get a typical workout, but I'll bet that I burn a few calories!

Managed to drag my butt out of bed early again today for my bike ride. I was disappointed to find that the underpass was closed again today. They were moving some rock along the creek bank I think. Hopefully it won't be closed more than a few days. The traffic was pretty light so getting across the street was not to harrowing. (I walk my bike across.) Somehow I pulled a muscle in my side somewhere along the line (I think when I was turning around to head back) and it was kind of an uncomfortable ride back. I hope it's better by tomorrow morning. I did 8.25 miles in 48 minutes!

I worked out EARLY this morning...before the kids were even out of bed. It was a nice change of pace to hear myself think while I sweat. :)

The girls and I walked a few blocks to the post office today, too. And I spent almost 2 hours pulling weeds in the front of our house this afternoon. It was a pretty productive day here.

Pulling weeds is a workout. I have a battle of wills with several persistent weeds every day. I'm winning so far. ;)

Two things: First, does anyone know a good dance type video? I've been finding myself dancing around the house to music lately and forgot how much I enjoyed it. I can't dance like I did in college anymore, but I think I can still move fairly well and would love to use that to help get rid of a few pounds.

Second, how does everyone else deal with people who sabotage their plans? My DH, God bless him, tends to buy food for me that I don't want in my house. So do my parents (and I work for them). I don't think my DH is doing consciously, but maybe subconsciously. I don't want to argue with him about it, but it's starting to get on my nerves.

I haven't weighed myself in a while because I almost don't want to know. ;)

I don't have any advice for you Zaz. I do all the shopping in our house. I haven't had a good week with eating. I've cheated the last three nights. I have PMS and no other adults here to help me control myself. I haven't over done it, but a few Oreos here and there. Last night it was the diet cupcakes. They are so good and only 100 calories for 3! But I worked my butt off this morning on the treadmill to make up for it! I had mulch delivered yesterday, so the rest of the day will be spent shopping and hauling mulch from the driveway to the backyard using a small wheelbarrow.

This hasn't hit the newletter yet, but it's on the calendar. Theresa and I are hosting a Health and Fitness Crop and Chat on July 30th at 9 pm est. The basic idea for the chat is to take this thread into the chat room and create layouts about our successes, goals, roadblocks, frustrations, motivations, etc. I hope you all can make it!

EDIT: Date Change.

I didn't get any exercise in today. I woke up early enough to go out on my bike but my side was hurting too much. I am so mad. I am on a roll and I don't want to let anything stop me. I'm going to give it a try tomorrow morning.

YES!! Mine does this, too! In the summertime, I love having ice cream after the kids are in bed. Of course, that's a bad habit. So DH will go out and buy containers of ice cream that tempt me, and when I ask if he wants any, he replies "no, you go ahead."

If it's not in the house, I don't even think about it. But I swear that ice cream has a voice and it calls me from the freezer every night. :giggle_bear:

Notice my ticker hasn't gone down this week...it's PMS week, so it could be that, but I think it's more from the fact that there was ice cream in the house last week.

Blame the PMS, Becca. ;)

I find myself wanting to munch something after my DS is in bed. Maybe it's a reward for surviving the day, I don't know. ;) My DH will eat ice cream, but I won't. Sometimes he'll try bringing me a cookie. Meanie. I've been trying to find just a little something around here that isn't so bad for me. And I don't eat anything at least two hours before bed or I'm awake for a while. My DH is only slightly overweight. He's lost weight even though he has bad eating habits. It hardly seems fair.

Today is my serious weed-pulling day (at least two hours). I'll also be moving things from one office to another, up and down stairs, too. I'm going to feel it tomorrow, but at least now I won't mind. It's not exactly a traditional workout, but it always feels like it.
