Hi Girls! Where have I been? Gosh, I've been working out but forgetting to update you!! So sorry! It is the later workout time...it kind of throws me off.

Well, I lost 1 lb last week! I can't believe it! 6 more to go to my goal. BUT last night DH and I partied hard for our anniversary. Not so much eating, but drinking! I'm paying the price this morning with a slight hangover. I'm debating whether I should exercise or not. Hmmmmm....

In the meanwhile, I have the hangover munchies...looking for something that won't ruin my diet!

Zaz, my sister tried belly dancing once. I can ask her if she has any tapes. Are you looking to borrow one or just the name of a good one? And I'm lucky that I am really the only one who brings food into the house. So I know what is here and what is getting eaten by whom most of the time!

I'll let you know if I make that treadmill today!

Theresa

Happy belated anniversary T! Sounds like you did it up right. ;)

I did 9.2 miles in 52 minutes on the real bike today. My side didn't bother me at all, thank goodness.

I have always liked the thought of doing belly dancing. I think I have a book and LP (that's how long its been since I gave it a try) kicking around somewhere. ;)

Ok, I'm on the treadmill, sweatin' off my hangover. It feels pretty good! I guess I did the right thing, huh?

First of all, WTG to everyone for trying so hard!!
Second let me just say...I totally need you guys for this!!! I'm getting married next June & would LOVE to lose about 25 pounds but would be happy with 20. I have a little less than 11 months to go, so its completely doable...now I just need to DO IT! I've become obsessed with reading labels, but all that goes out the window at lunch time. I work with one of my bridesmaids who is supposed to be dieting with me, but she has even worse willpower than I do so she is NO help at all so I'm going to have to lean on you guys!! I hate how disgusted I feel with myself after eating so I really need to buckle down! I've had a horrible week with my eating (today an omelete filled with cheddar cheese) so starting TONIGHT I'm seriously sticking to my "cereal diet" Healthy Fiber One cereal for breakfast & lunch (lunch w/ fruit) and SMALL portions of food for dinner. I have to do this...I refuse to be a fat bride!!! lol

Welcome, baybaymom 20! I know you can loose the weight before your wedding. Here is something that's worked for me...I plan everything I eat and don't go off the plan. And yes, it can be very hard sometimes...but the weight does slowly come off. And if I eat something with tons of calories, I make sure that don't do it again over the next couple of days! You can lose the weight; but no matter what, you will be a beautiful bride!

This week I've walked twice and lifted weights once. Yeah, me! I am so excited to see my upper body getting buff! Tomorrow, DH and I head back to Texas to help my sister move into our house. No scheduled workouts, but Friday dh and I are cleaning the garage...it's going to be so hot in the garage! Then Saturday we finish cleaning out one of the bedrooms and my sister moves into a newly cleared out room. I'm just hoping that I don't hurt after all that hard labor! Hopefully my work outs have prepared me to help someone move!

Hello everyone!

I finally managed to get some exercise in for the first time since last Friday--swam laps for 30 minutes, and wow can I feel it in my whole body. DS is going out of town with the in-laws tomorrow through Sunday, so DH and I already have plans to hit the pool everyday and probably the beach as well, as long as the weather holds up.

Zaz--I LOVE working out with dance videos. :dancing_penguin: Here are some of my favorites: the two Island Girl Dance Fitness Workouts (Hula) with Kili, and her two Hula Workouts as well. Each is about 30 minutes long, and while you don't feel incredibly winded after doing them, you FEEL it in your hips and thighs later. I also have Rania's Belly Dance Fitness for Weight Loss series of 4 DVD's that can be fun. If you want to get funky, try Altheatized: Volume 1, Brazilian Dance Workout, Crunch's Fat Burning Dance Party and Prevention's Dance It Off! Lately, I've been doing TurboJam which has upbeat music, but isn't dancey at all--it's kickboxing.

HTH!

Welcome, Amy! Congratulations! Don't forget to get some exercise in, too. That will help lose the weight.

I've been so busy lately that I keep forgetting to post here! Sorry! I have been working out. I had a weigh in today and I'm down a total of 16 pounds in one month! Dh is down 20! My sil and bil are on the diet and getting fabulous results, too! Today I did a low impact aerobics video and then a pilates video. I have a busy weekend planned, so I'm trying to get my workouts in during the week. So far, so good!

Happy Belated Anniversary, Theresa!

I was a slug yesterday and didn't workout. It was raining, and I just didn't feel like it. But I will work out today. Promise!

The next two weeks will be hard. Dh is on vacation, and getting my work out in when he's home is not easy. You'd think it would be easier, since he'd be here to watch the kids for me, but NO...he always has to rush me out the door too early.

I'm falling off the water wagon, too. It's been too many days since I got all my water ounces in, and yesterday, I drank 1/3 of a medium Coke from McDonald's. I haven't had soda in weeks!

I've got to get back on track here, so that's my goal for the few days. A 20 minute workout and 64 ounces of water!

I need to dash off to work here, but I think today is the day I commit. I asked Becca and she steered me over here. I have 60 pounds I need to shed. I blame digi scrapping for all of it. heheheh.. nothing to do with eating at all. Okay, I'm serious, I need to get going so can I join the group? I'll be back later to find out what happens here.

You're in Joy! Everyone is welcome...C'mon Rebecca! Get in gear! I don't want to hear about disappointment here...just successes. LOL!

It is Thursday. I won't be here tomorrow as we are headed to a friend's cabin for the weekend. So, I'm moving extra hard today. I upped my level to 7 from 6, and what a huge difference! I feel real good though, as we leave for the weekend. I haven't gotten on the scale since Monday but I'm bettin' I lost another pound, or at least "hoping"!

Remember, just keep moving ladies! Drink lots of water, and limit your meals to just ONE serving! You will soon see incredible results...Shoot some goals out to me if that helps you! We are here to cheer you on!!

Good afternoon girlies! So today my friend at work asked me if I wanted Taco Bell with her for lunch...I said no! Yay me!! So instead, I'm sitting here with my little bowl of cereal & browsing the gallery. Not too bad of a trade off... ;)
And last night I had only 1 helping of dinner so my resolve set yesterday has at least stuck for 24hrs. Feel very motivated with you guys along with me though...plans lookin' good.
Hope ya'all have a wonderful afternoon...talk to ya this evening!!

I guess it's not too late to join in the conversation. Six months ago I bought a stationary bike, the type that has the air fan on it, just in case I passed out from exertion. So, while I watched TV, I was on the bike. The first day I sat on the bike I wondered what ever possessed me to buy such a contraption that would make me suffer so?????? I managed to make it to three complete minutes before I decided I needed to take a break. Now I can actually go for thirty minutes without a problem. I don't need to lose weight anymore, since I lost 30 lbs. last year, BUT I do have to watch what I eat so those pounds don't come creeping back. I eat a low carb diet, not because I want to but because I have to; I have a tendency to have high triglycerides (a form of fatty acids in the blood). My two cents worth is to find a diet you can stick to for the rest of your life, for it will be one that will not feel like the four letter word DIET. Have a great day! :dancingelephant:

Good advice Gina! Unfortunately I don't think I'll ever be one of those girls that can eat salads & feel content afterwards :P My downfall isn't sweets or even snacking...its real food that gets me! I love nothing more than a really good home-cooked meal! (also unfortunately, my mom taught me well...) So needless to say its dinner that gets me almost everytime. I think Theresa's suggestion to just have 1 helping is the way to go for me. Since I can't/won't give up yummy food like mashed potatoes & pasta, I'm going to have to just stick with portion control & exercise.

Hi, everyone! Just back from swimming again. DH and I both bought swim fins, so I spent about 20 minutes with the kickboard doing a flutter kick before I started using my arms. Do I feel THAT in my thighs! Oh---and in one of those "wow, this is embarassing" moments--a male coworker of mine was leaving the pool and stopped to talk as I was just about to jump in. Not only was I feeling very unclothed around someone who usually sees me very covered up, but he's a tri-athlete, so I was VERY happy that he got to see all my out-of-shape parts exposed! What motivation to keep going to get all the out-of-shape bits in shape.

Did 10 miles in 55 minutes on the real bike. Warm but beautiful evening out. I didn't go out this morning because there still were some storms in the area. The skies were clearing when I got back from my dentist appointment, so after having some lunch, headed out to ride. Found it was sprinkling. No problem, I'll go anyway. Then I saw the big black cloud overhead and remembered the two guys that got struck by lightning out on the trails two years ago. Unhuh. I'm not going out there. It was totally clear after dinner so I headed out. Should sleep well tonight. I better. Haven't done so good the last two nights.

Great advice Gina. I try not to think in terms of dieting. I just try really hard to eat properly!

I guess I picked a pretty good day to be committed. (yesterday) I never had time the rest of the day to give it a thought. Hopefully today I can give it some real thoughts and try to make a plan. I used Ediets before with very good success, so I'll probably go back to their plan. Its just sensible eating but you can print out what to eat for a week at a time. I always thought if I didn't have to plan it all out, it would be easier. So that works for me. I lost 55 pounds using that 5 years ago.. and slowly it has crept back on until I'm right back where I started. I HATE that!
Exercise is going to be a huge challenge for me because in the last 5 years I have contracted arthritis in my left hip so walking is a huge challenge. Let alone working out using that leg much. I have to keep it moving and I started going to the track a while back and walking, but it was indeed a challenge. The dr. told me to try Yoga and Pilates. Anyone have a good video they do these with at home? There are no classes where I live.

I also seem to have contracted some dyslexia in the last 5 years. Its my right hip. Gosh, I turn everything around these days. No wonder some of my layouts come out backwards.

Joy, I totally understand the hip problems. I haven't been diagnosed with arthritis there, but I probably have it. They hurt most of the time when I try walking. But my hips don't hurt as much as my feet do. I have been diagnosed with arthritis in them. Walking for exercise is not an option for me right now. I'm hoping if I can get my weight down, it will be easier on my feet and hips. The weight is coming off verrryyyyy slowly.

I was so sore from Thursday's ride that I didn't get out on Friday then Friday night I had an intestinal upset and just didn't have any energy on Saturday. Planned to get up early today to do my bike ride but slept too long to get it in before church. Did go out after lunch though. It was hot so I took it pretty easy and only did 7.2 miles.

You girls are doing great and I love how you egg each other on. You also give some great advice! Way to go! Sometimes all we need is a little push. I'll be honest with you...posting here everyday is my push. Even if I am too busy to get on the boards during the day, I try to post here every morning.

I didn't get on the scale this morning. I'm kind of scared. We had a weekend of late nights and mojitos. I didn't eat a heck of alot, but I did my share of drinking. Plus I'm expecting my monthly bill so the bloat is at its ultimate worst right now. I actually woke up with cramps in the middle of the night! That hasn't happened since I was a teenager. My system is changing...and fast.

I upped my treadmill to level 7, 3.6 mph. I'm still doing 3 miles. It takes me 50 minutes, and if it weren't for the fact that my day is already so packed, I'd do more. But I think this is working OK. As long as I am maintaining. Losing would be better, but I'll take what I can get! Maybe I'll skip the scale today. I'm so worried...(scared actually). It isn't fair that we women have to deal with this every month. It is the pits!

Did you all have a great weekend? Pat, you go girl! 10 miles is impressive.

Joy, you crack me up. Sorry to hear about your hip. You know, they have some great tapes for people who can't move much below the waist. You actually work out sitting down. I'll see if I can find the names of them.

And Gina! Welcome! We are glad to have another pep person!!

Keep moving girls!!

Hi Girls!

I've been pretty good for the last few days. Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday, DH and I did a minimum of 30 minutes of swimming laps--with our new fins--what a workout! On Saturday, we both woke up still with muscle fatigue and decided to take a day off. Yesterday, I did a TurboJam workout and then ruined it all by eating at the Melting Pot. YUM! But, I have NO willpower when presented with cheese fondue and chocolate fondue--and it was my birthday. I told myself that I wouldn't, but I jumped on the scale this morning and hadn't gained anything. I hope that means the working out is working.

BTW, did y'all know that ScrapGirls sends us PRESENTS for our birthdays?! I'm going shopping!

I got brave and put a weight ticker on my signature. I did an hour on the elliptical this morning. Back from vacation and into my routine-- but it sure was hard to get up at 5:00 this morning, after being gone for 3 weeks!

I added a ticker a little over a week ago. And it hasn't moved. :( If I were honest it actually would have moved in the wrong direction! I don't know what's going on. I've been getting in bike rides 5 days a week and my weight actually went up three lbs at the end of last week!! I know that it could be muscle building, but this is very discouraging. I'm being very careful of how I'm eating and I just can't understand why I can't lose.

My ticker is just a short term goal. I've got WAY more than 35 lbs to lose.

I did 7.6 miles this morning.

Hello Everyone! I was able to workout Monday thru Friday last week so I could take the weekend off. I was still busy this weekend with a lot of activity. I needed it because I haven't been very good late at night with eating. I have to get back on track with that. I still lost one pound. This morning, I did a step aerobics video and walked for 30 minutes. I kind of like having the weekend off from exercising!

I need to look into getting a ticker, too!

Bend over, pull and throw, repeat fifty times and you have accomplished a nice exercise routine. It is called, GARDENING! We don't think gardening is a good exercise, but have you noticed that the day after bending, pulling and throwing the weeds in the trash you find you have discovered a new set of aching muscles? :dancingcow:
I try to garden every other day, and I can feel those muscles working. Dont' forget to smell the flowers.

OKugh! I am starting a diet. Wellits not really a diet, more a healthy lifestyle change. I have been gaining weight over the last 5 years or so. I actually lost quite a bit of weight during and after my pregnancy (constant morning, noon and night sickness & nursing) almost 2 years ago, but slowly I have gained it back again. Time for a change. I was always one of those people that never had to worry about weight. Until I was 25 I was never larger than a size 6. Now I am up to a size 14 and I just feel icky. I am only
4 11” so it does not take much weight gain before I really start feeling “fluffy”. Right now I weigh more than I ever have before and I am tired of it.

I weigh 130 pounds and I want to get down to 113-115 pounds. I have a meal plan worked out for this week. Lots of fruit & veggies, non or lo fat options, healthy snacks like granola and dried fruit. Whole wheat anything and everything! LOL I bought healthy choice frozen dinners to take for lunch because that is where I really blow it most days. I also am going to start riding my exercise bile (arms & legs) 10-15 min every morning before I get into the shower.

I dont want to start with too much and fee overwhelmed. Just want to make some positive changes gradually so that they become a habit. One of my goals today was to tell someone about my goals and plans, so there you go. One check mark for me! :D

I've been a little absent from this thread for the past few days, due to a wedding in the family.

But I have good news!!! I've met my first short-term goal! I've lost 10 POUNDS so far!!! Even though I wasn't so careful about what I was eating during all the wedding festivities. And I sure had my fair share of alcohol on Saturday night, after my mom took our kids to her house.

But I saw 199.6 on the scale this morning! For the first time since I was 6 months pregnant with Chaislynn that I'm under 200 pounds! YAY me!!!!

I promised myself a new digital scale for this goal, and I bought it today. Now I don't have to squint to see those lower numbers. :)

Can I join you? I lost 20 lbs on Weight Watchers over the last 2 years, but recently I have gained 8 back. I am trying to get my butt moving and be consistent with my exercise. I made a ticker and am ready to go!

Nice job Becca!!!
