I'm looking for somewhere good, but not too expensive, to print my digital layouts. The photo center at Meijers was cutting part of my layout off, stretching the remainder to fit, automatically doing color correction without my permission, and, when it was saved, JPG jaggyness occurred. :banghead:

I recently stumbled across scrapbookpictures.com and I wondered if anyone has any experience with this site or if there are any other sites that people are having good resuts with.

Thanks!

I keep hearing good things about whcc.com, but I haven't used them.

The photo center at Meijers was doing an "enlargement" to your layouts. Have you tried leaving them exact details? The guys at Costco photo processing know me now and don't do anything to my files. They don't stretch to fit, they don't color correct, etc.

After getting home and reviewing the prints, I went back and then had to return a second time to talk with the photo center manager. He even went into the crop function and saw that, yes, the picture was sized at 8x10. (The person there the first time I came in actually said "different software saves things differently" and suggested that even though I set it up to be 8x10 it might not have saved that way. If that's the case, PS has a horrible issue.) In any case, the manager turned off the color correction and red-eye and printed, but it still cropped funny and did jpg jaggyness. He called tech support and someone from Texas "drove" the computer and it still printed incorrectly. I finally got the manager to load the picture directly from the card to the photo printer. While it fixed all the other problems (color and jaggyness), it still cropped funny. After an hour and a half of me trying to watch what the manager was doing and juggling Ben as he got crankier and crankier, the manager wrote it off as a translation problem between the computer and the photo printer and suggested that I add an additional 1/16 of an inch to my print to allow for the system to crop it off. Not a solution I was thrilled with. I did end up with 4 copies of each of my 4 layouts, but only 1 that I'd show off. If the manager and tech support can't figure it out, I don't feel comfortable leaving my photos with them.

I've reviewed whcc.com and it looks on the up and up...I might submit the same layout to both places and see what happens.

Please let us know what happens if you do submit those photos. This is a very interesting topic to me as I am starting to seek out the same service. I'll let you know if I find something different.

I've used winkflash; I usually just do 6x6 layouts, which I put on a 6x8 canvas.
I also sometimes do their 8x10's.
I've been pleased with the quality and the price.

Do you have a Costco membership by any chance? I've had 8by10" LOs printed there without issue. When I'm smart enough NOT to click the "Enlargement" button. :P

No, I don't have a Costco membership and I've let my Sam's Club drop, too. I just couldn't find enough at Sam's to be cost effective.
