We drive out there every year headed to New Mexico and we always stay in West Texas at least one night. Some folks say they hate the wind, but I love the whole way the air feels out there. Its so humid down here in Central that you can cut the air with a knife. We'll be heading out West in 2 weeks.. Yay!!! I can't wait.

Hi there, I have truly never heard anyone say they liked West Texas. *laugh* I'm not big on humidity, we were in San Antonio this past week and boy was it ever humid out. My hair frizzed and I started sweating as soon as I walked out the door. I do not like humidity! *laugh* I'm not fond of the wind we have here either. But I am used to it. Ya'll have a safe trip! I live in the DFW area now, but grew up in San Antonio and Austin, and went to school in Waco. That about covers the Texas I-35 corridor! Guest yoga_momma
I'm near Fort Hood! I'm actually hoping to find someone who lives near DFW who might like the chance to take some pictures....my DH is returning from Iraq (only for his 2 weeks leave) and my kids have not seen him in 10 months. I would LOVE to have some pictures to scrap but experience has taught me that i won't get any good pictures taken! If you live near there and have Sat the 25th free, PLEASE email me! Sarah in VA
It's good to see all of you Texas girls! I was born and raised in Texas and all my family is still there. My daughter and sister are in Wichita Falls, one grandson in Denton, the other in college at Nacogdoches. I went to Tech in Lubbock and have lived in San Antonio on 3 separate occasions! We've been in Virginia for 14 years now, but we try to get back as often as we can. Can't say I miss the weather, but I sure do miss the people and especially the bluebonnets! I'm glad to see Texas so well represented here at Scrap Girls!

Funny, you say "BLUEBONNETS", we are just getting ready to plant ours in our green belt behind our home, along with some other wildflowers so we should have an awesome showing for next March/April. They are my favorite flower.
Sarah in VA
Oh, I wish I could grow bluebonnets! I've never been able to get them to thrive anyplace but Texas. Enjoy them and maybe do a layout for us in April, ok?

Sarah in VA
Belinda! That's a marvelous link. Thanks so much for sharing. And they will even provide information if you want to use one of the photos on your own project. This is just so timely. I'm working on 2008 calendars for my grandsons and wanted to include bluebonnets on the April layout! I was just out on the Internet yesterday looking for a place such as this. Actnfunny
BTT Been a while since any new Texans have let us know they are out there. I had to go way down to find this thread again! So great to know there are so many out there. One of these days... I'm going to plan something so those who want to can all meet for lunch. photomom
I'm here in Fort Worth! Not native, but I, too, got here as fast as I could! I was raised in North Florida and you haven't lived though humidity until you've lived in Florida. My parents are still there, but I wouldn't want to live anywhere but Texas. The bluebonnets are really nice going from Fort Worth to Gun Barrel City. Anyone been there? There's a pass you go through and as you come out of it there's a beautiful meadow between the highway and a ranch on the left and I think Lady Bird must have just dumped the seed out there because they are like blue carpet in late March early May. catinkeri
Hello from a very south/western texan (temporarily anyhow). My husband is active military so we've been here on the Mexican border for two years, another year to go and we'll be ... who knows where! I have to say I love it here in Texas - but then I don't like cold weather. I think the humidity is wonderful compared to Maryland where we lived before ... and I love that we don't have snow here!! Gotsta admit - I love Texas!! Especially the local cuisine ... yumbo!! And that's saying something from someone that's originally from New Zealand! My husband's state of residence is Texas no matter where we live because we plan on retiring here when he's finished his active duty!
LibGrrl
Now Daises803, I know for a fact there's not much between Denton and McKinney... not unless you count the new North Dallas Tollway Extension... ;-) Anyway, I'm in McKinney, between the DNT and 75, up near HWY 380... Of course I work in Plano... but I won't complain my hubby commutes to Irving... Just thought I'd say Hey... sorry, been hanging out with non-Texans - "Howdy"! eeyoretam
I'm not originally from Texas, but we've lived in San Antonio longer than we have anywhere else (ex-military) so it's home now.
