LizzyJ
So I'm looking at the MacBook Pro Laptops and one of the options is a Glossy or Anti-Glare screen. Which do you prefer for those long hours of scrapping? I'm sure this isn't just on Apple computers either so any reviews or comments are greatly appreciated. TIA, Lizzy
Monika
So I'm looking at the MacBook Pro Laptops and one of the options is a Glossy or Anti-Glare screen. Which do you prefer for those long hours of scrapping? I'm sure this isn't just on Apple computers either so any reviews or comments are greatly appreciated. TIA, Lizzy I have a Gateway with a glossy screen. One one hand, it's really brght and the colors are great. However, if there's a lot of light in the room, it reflects A LOT. I even took a "self portrait" of myself reflected in the computer screen. It gets annoying because in my office, the windows are at my back. And if I'm outside, the glare is quite strong. Smudges also show up easier on this kind of a screen. It's hard to tell what it'll be like "in real life" when you're in the store and comparing screens. My husband has the MacBook Pro with just a regular screen (don't know if it was specifically anti-glare, though). He doesn't have the problem with unwanted reflections. If you have an Apple store near you I'd suggest going in there to test them out.
ManiakMama
My new HP Laptop has a regular screen and I would say that if you are going to scrap in an area that has a lot of natural light, to go for the non-glare.
LizzyJ
I've tested them in the store...but it's never the same as when you get it at home and because we travel a lot I'm always in different lighting situations. My DH has the glossy and I love those bright colors but I'm just not sure that it outweighs the glare. Thanks.
Guest sfcgijill
I have a non-glare on my work laptop, and the glossy on my personal laptop. Call me crazy, but I like the glossy better- it seems like I can see more detail, and the display is definitely brighter. Since it's a laptop, I just move to avoid the glare. But I can see how glare would be annoying if you couldn't turn away from the light to avoid the glare.
April Showers
We have one of each here too. Can't say that I love either of them. I let dd choose for the new laptop since she uses them more. She chose the non-glare since I didn't really have an opinion. She likes it better because she can see more with it turned at an angle. I don't think either is really good in the sun. I have trouble with the non-glare outside unless I'm in full shade-- not just under an umbrellla. (with the light reflecting off the pool deck)
jennk
I have a glossy MacBook screen and I love how it looks. I dont' love the smudges that I get on it and the screen is hard to see if I am in bright sun but otherwise I am happy with it.
Toni L.
I have a Dell laptop and I don't think I specifically ordered this, but it's a non glare screen. I like the non glare better. Little hands are always touching my screen and you can't see the fingerprints...until you turn it off....*L*
