First of all, I love this newsletter! There are so many talented people out there. I especially liked Brandy Hackman's layout in todays newsletter. I would really like to know how she did the photo like that. I have tried in the past to make a photo partly transparent with no success. Would love to see her talk about how she made this layout in a future newsletter.

What program are you using? It looks like she did a Marquee selection tool or the Polygonal lasso tool with a pretty large feather. I know the feathering is available in the Adobe probrams and I'm pretty sure that it is available in most of the programs people are using.

Another way to do this is with layer masking which is a very fun technique.
