angelaNussbaum
Its time to join Angela and Becca Tonight @ 9pm EST for the Desktop Challenge Crop. Tired of your desktop being some graphic that you would've liked to make? Tired of a solid background? Did you know with your scrap booking skills you can make a fabulous background for your enjoyment? Today we are going to challenge you beyond just a theme. For the October's Desktop we want you to try to use 3 or more pictures! Whew! That was hard for me, but I actually managed to use 8 in my desktop and keep some icon space! Our Gallery has moved! Make sure you upload your layouts to this Gallery. Here is my layout: October Desktop Cant wait to see all ya'lls creations! (need help on how to get your desktop size and getting started? see my next post... Help for Mac and PC)
angelaNussbaum
PC Directions: To get the size you need for your layout, take your mouse and right click on your desktop (not on an icon). A menu will pop up, select Properties (or for Vista you will need to look in Personalize, after that I hope its like XP). In properties select Settings. There you should see a sliding bar for Screen Resolution. Under that you will see something like "1440 by 900 pixels". Write that down and click cancel. Open your preferred Scrapbook software and open a new image. Give it the size you wrote down, make sure its pixels. You don't have to scrap at 300 for your desktop, you can chose 72 for the dpi. Now your ready to scrap (remember to account for space for visibility of your icons, see my desktop example)!! When you finish, save a COPY as a jpg. (Make sure it’s a copy, you want your original in case you want to make changes). Pull up the folder you saved in, find your jpg file, right click and choose "Set As Desktop Background" MAC Instructions (Provided by Zaz, THANKS!): Okay, on a Mac, if you go to System Preferences and click on Display, it will tell you what dimensions you are currently using and what is available to you (mine is currently on 1680 x 1050). It will also warn you if the size you have chosen will stretch your image. I save my image to the desktop and change it at System Preferences (click on Desktop). Susan Neff
Thanks for the instructions! I would never have known what size to use. What a great idea, making your own desktop layouts! I have single pictures, but that's it - never thought to do a layout.

Anne1701
Sorry I missed the crop, the season premiere of Ghost Hunters was on! I only watch television 2 nights a week (well sometimes Saturday) and I really like the show. This sounds like a really challenging idea, I love it! I will try to do it tomorrow though I'm pooped and my dd has to be in work at 7:00 which means I get to take Anna to daycare. Ughh, I hate not being able to drive my car. I made up my own acronym for SEPTA but can't repeat it here LOL.
Stacey H.
Well, after staying up to the wee hours tonight, I just realized I was supposed to use 3 pictures. Oh well, that would be hard to find anyway for a "fall" theme in Florida! Here's my LO anyway... October Desktop
