I just wanted to give a "shout out" to Shalae for the great tutorial in today's newsletter. I have had the watercolor SS paper templates in my basket for a while now but haven't gotten them for fear that I wouldn't be able to make them "work" the way the samples looked. Well, today's newsletter gave an excellent way to use them. I can hardly wait to repeat the steps to see if I can make something as pretty as the sample. Thanks Shalae for the great tips. Your tutoral convinced me to go ahead and get them while the sale is on :-)!

Love that this thread was started as I was going to start one myself. BRAVO, Shalae! The tutorial was fantastic! I had just purchased all my goodies last night...but....after this morning's newsletter...i just have to go back for seconds! At least it's not fattening, right? Gotta get Remember Postcards, SS Artsy Templates, and Grunge Brushes. I'm off to the boutique and I don't even have to get dressed...sitting here in my pjs, sipping strong coffee (since i was up until 1am doing a LO!), and shopping for goodies! Just how good can life get?????!!!! :curlers:

Great tut Shalae I am off to the boutique to buy them.I was just wondering what makes yours look so much better when using the templates than using the watercolour effect in CS3.

You know what floss, I've never used the watercolor effect. Oh wait.. are you meaning under the filters? I have used that and I have to agree the templates seem more real. I'm not sure how a filter works, but it seems to almost be like a style, it creates an effect and repeats it over and over to a point, so it's more controlled. If you've used watercolors in real life, they are not so controlled. Completely uncontrollable sometimes! :) You can get so many interesting effects, goofs, bleedings, etc that make watercolor so beautiful. So the templates are actually that - I water colored on some paper and created the real look of watercolors and what it does. The painting is random, the effects are random, and the fun part is you can create so many looks using various blending modes, with the filters you really get one and only one look. I don't know if that really gives you an answer, just my thoughts on it. :)

Thanks Shalae.I knew there was a difference to the look and now I know why. Will the brush class you and Marnie are offering in the boutique be offered again but at an earlier time of day and does it cover more even more techniques than your first class.I have asked this on another thread but I loved your brush class so much that I am eager to sign up for another one.

Marnie is taking over the teaching of the classes. Occassionally if I get the chance I hope to maybe hop in and help her out at all, but it's all in her hands now. I'm pretty sure that she is covering the exact material that is in the books, so most likely it will be very similar to the first classes. There is the chance though that wiht her being a different instructor she'll have different insights than me, and do things slightly different. She is amazing at brushes and I totally feel confident that she'll do a great job on this class. As for future offerings, she is the one to talk to as she is doing the arrangements for all of it. Hope that helps!

I went looking for this tutorial today and can't find that newsletter. I haven't gotten a newsletter since the one on the 24th (and the one today.) I really wish that the tutorial came with the templates.

Thanks - I found the one from the 28th on the home page. I've tried and tried to get mine to come out right, but I must be doing something wrong somewhere along the line because it just isn't turning out very well. Any suggestions would be very welcome. http://scrapgirls.com.ipbhost.com/index.ph...i&img=32893
