Good morning Gals!
As usual first thing this morning I opened my newsletter, and looked forward to what the new banner for October would like. I have always enjoyed the creative banner each month geared to the season or the feel. I was surprised to see the scrapbook banner has been changed to be just text! I was disappointed! How do the rest of the gals feel about it? If lots of us miss it and like it enough, maybe we can talk Ro into bringing it back. If everybody else likes it the new way, I'll be quiet and go with the flow!

Okay, I must be a dork. I didn't even notice. Now I notice when there is a new one, but well... I'm obviously not too attentive this morning. ;)

I like that it has links to all the different sections on here - boutique, MB, gallery - were those there before?? I didn't notice them before. The "NEWS" right at the top threw me for a loop - I thought there was going to be some big announcement! lol I think it's nice tho but I guess we're used to a scrappy banner.

Don't feel bad April, I didn't notice it either... I guess I just love to dig into the newsletter that I don't pay much attention to the details... My bad. Anyway I went and checked it out and I must say that I like the clean appearance to the newsletter...

Tee hee. Yes, the links were there before. The banner was just too busy for you to see it, I think. That was part of the problem, I felt. While it was fun to swap new banners in and out, I began to feel like we were losing our identity and the attention was being pulled away from what is really important - the newsletter contents. Our brand has always been graphic and clean and so I decided to go back to that. I asked Valerie to design a new header that we will use most of the year (she is a whiz at it - amazing, actually).

That is why you don't see a new banner on the front of the website, either. I felt that we were confusing people - particularly new visitors - with who we were. It is better to keep our branding and let our beautiful graphics tell the story. They are the star of the show! And so I redesigned the front page so that it would allow a tell the stories I wanted to tell and allow the beauty of the designer's products show through.

Anyway, that's what I am trying to do....

:-)

I understand what you are trying to do Ro, and I totally agree with your reasoning and like the clean graphic look. Of course, I had to go back and look too because I must have missed it the first time around. But can I be a bit wishy-washy? I liked the creativity of the old banners too!

Oh my gosh - I didn't notice either! I had to go back and look, and I like the clean look, too. I agree with Ro about branding, etc. Don't want to confuse new folks!

I noticed something different when I opened my newsletter this am, but I couldn't place what it was. Sorta like when someone (hopefully, a man) shaves off his moustache or beard and you know he looks different, but can't figure out why at first!
:disappearing-smilie: Anyway, I definitely like the clean new look. Looks so professional and you can't help but notice the links to the different areas of the SG site! Nice work, Valerie!

I did notice it right off and like the change. I loved that the banner changed but I totally agree with what Ro is aiming for. More brilliant business sense!
