Guest DeeZee
OK, I'm not sure there IS a way around this, but lately some of my layouts have gotten very pixelated and flat when I resize and export to jpg. My last one, for example, became very pixel-ly when the original was not. Is there a way around this or is this just the way it is? As a side note, I'm hoping I can get this to my developer without it getting all pixel-y. Any suggestions on how to do that? I don't change the ppi when I send it to them but to keep the details, it is a huge file. (I ftp it to them so it's not necessarily a problem to have a big file but the bigger the file, the bigger the risk of a corrupt file, you know?) Am I doing something wrong? Guest jlf_loves_mjf
Unfortunately, pixelation is the nature of the JPG beast. The more jpg compression you use, the more pixelated the layout becomes. My 8x8 LOs for print are almost 5 MB in size. I use NO compression on them. (I slide that slide all the way to the right...it's 12 in PS...I don't know what it is in other programs.) See if your developer can take your LO as a TIF. The file size shouldn't decrease but it'll get rid of the JPG compression/pixelation issue. [post="16666"]<{POST_SNAPBACK}>[/post]
Hi Jennifer, I'm so glad to see someone else uses .tif to save with. The file sizes are so large, but I'd read it's a true lossless format, so I save all my originals and finals as .tifs. Thanks for posting this!
