Spunkymom
I want to scan one of my son's soccer medals for addition to a page. Once I scan it there is a white background around the image. How do I get rid of that so that I just have the image of the medal to place on the page? Thanks.
ruralscrapper
Which program are you using? If you let us know that, we can help you out a little better.

Wendee-CreativeSparkle
I use PhotoShop and I think the tools are still similar to PSE. I always start by making a copy of the layer so I'm working on a copy. Then I would use the magic wand to select the white area and adjust the tolerance and reselect it until it looks like a good selection. Make sure you have anti-alias checked so the selection isn't jagged. Then once you're done selecting the white you can delete it. If there are any really bad edges you can use the eraser tool and remove them by zooming in really close. After that I use the "Layer > Matting > Defringe" option to darken the outer edges with a similar color further in. hth
nicole_j
yes... Then save it as a PNG so that it stays saved without a background.
