Wacom Tablets

I'm thinking of asking Santa for a Wacom Tablet, but don't know which one to ask for. The Graphire seem to be fazed out except for Bluetooth and then there's a new one - Bamboo Fun. I don't know which one to wish for.

Hi Dolores!

You know I have a graphire 4x5 and I love it, it sounds like they have replaced that with the Bamboo line. My pen is wearing out. After 2 years of very heavy use. I use it for everything, not just scrapbooking. I use it instead of a mouse. I think I am going to get a new Bamboo one and try it out. There were some other threads about this, but I can't remember what they were called right now. You can do a search on the message board for Wacom and you might get one of them.

Dolores, I have two wacoms...a small one that I started with, and a large graphire...I for sure love the shortcut keys on my graphire, but I think I could have gone smaller. Mine is 12x12, and I think that the 12x9 would have been more than enough.

I have read about the new ones, but haven't seen them yet. I think you can go to a place like Comp USA and test them out though, which I recommend. I for one, love my tablet, but there are those who prefer a mouse...

Good luck with you search and let us know how it turns out for you!

Hey Dolores -

Check out some of the websites that carry the Wacom tablets and also post user reviews. I think Amazon usually has reviews and another site I like is Newegg (you get to rate by number of eggs you'd give the product!). I looked this morning and they didn't have reviews for the Bamboo posted yet, but they do get updated all the time.

Some of the tablets even let you expand your pen collection - they sell pens that I think are primarily meant to pretty up your desk, but they do sell a pen specifically designed to simulate airbrushing. My pen has interchangeable nibs so I can simulate charcoal, ink and others. I honestly never use anything other then the standard tip, but you might have more imagination then I do! I don't know how elaborate you want to get, but they're fun to check out.

I have the Wacom Intuos 3 Tablet and I really love it. I use the pen for everything now, but I always have the mouse handy for other people that don't feel love for the pen. I switched over to the pen full time because using a mouse was starting to bother my wrist. To me, holding a pen feels more natural then holding a mouse. It definitely took some time to get used to but it also cleared up my wrist pain 100%.

No matter what tablet you pick, I seriously think you'll love it once you're used to it.

Good luck and enjoy whichever you get!!!

I asked Santa for the small (4 x 6) Wacom Bamboo Fun in White for Christmas. I can't wait to see if he gets it for me....of course, if he doesn't....well, I'll just buy it myself. LOL

I've had a hard time restraining from ordering it now.

I have read many good reviews in a lot of the scrapbooking magazines. I have also asked for a bamboo fun for Hanukah. And I hope that I get it. Check out the digitalscrapbookingmagazine.com,cicuit city and some other scrapbooking site. Also I think microsoft market place has a article on the tablet, because you can use them with office 2007. :dancingelephant:
